Amir Khan told boxing scene the other day that he is a better fighter than Cotto (when he fought Paulie) and Hatton. Come on, someone needs to slap this kid and wake him up.:patsch

What's wrong with having an opinion. One of the key traits in a boxer is exuberance and Amir is entitled to feel this way.

People seem to get rubbed the wrong way with anything Amir says. I reckon he is quite a likeable lad and is doing great things at just age 23.

I don't know what people expect from fighters (and athletes in general). You're supposed to have confidence and think this way. Is Khan supposed to think "yeah those guys are better than me"?? What kind of boxer would he be if he thought he was inferior?

Of course, I don't think Khan is better than them, and given his punch resistance, I reckon he'll take a fall if his management stops protecting him from punchers.

If PBF said he is greater than Ali and Robinson and some people agreed, then there should be no outrage about Khan saying that he is better than Cotto and Hatton.

This is the point I tried to make a while ago. NO boxers is going to admit they are inferior to another.

Hatton's chin was as bad as Khan's by the time he fought Malignaggi, still had ability though.

Cotto was on a completely different level then to Khan now, his problem was he was struggling to make weight as it was and iirc the fight with Paulie was at a catchweight draining him even more.

We'll start the better than Cotto and Hatton talk when he becomes the top man in a division.

I don't have a problem with him thinking it, and clearly having that confidence is an asset. The problem people has is with him saying it. When you have the reputation he does of blatantly avoiding punchers after the prescott fight, don't call out two warriors who have done a hell of a lot more than he could even dream of at this point in his career yet.

I don't see the problem. He should believe he's better than those guys. Now he just has to prove it.

Here's the issue I have with King Con -

Earlier this week he was on record as saying he is only looking to fight past prime boxers who are on the slide.

Now he is saying he is better than Hatton and Cotto.

Far as I can see Hatton and especially Cotto never ducked anyone in the way Khan has in his less than lustrous career thus far. Cotto is a true warrior and Hatton was game enough to take on the best. Most importantly neither fighter got their china shattered by a Columbian road sweeper!

    Khan's a joke.
