    Does Margarito even deserve a big fight based on recent performances ? His last major fight he was absolutely dismantled by Shane Mosley who went on to lose soundly to Mayweather, so just looking past if he was fighting illegally or not; shouldn't he have to earn a big fight ? I've heard his name mentioned with Mayweather, Pacquiao, and Cotto this week and I think he definitly needs a few more fights before we put him back in that upper echelon category. Thoughts ?

    He has looked more impressive in his last 3 fights than Cotto has in his last three fights. Guess who is fighting for a world title in less than one month from now?

    I just think he should have to work his way back up like any big name fighter coming off a bad loss. That was a pretty bad loss, I think he should have to beat another Top 10 contender before he gets a shot at a name like Pacquiao

    since when do guys with big names gotta do that....if you do that with big names you risk the fight not happening....

    it's now or never....he aint no spring chicken so taking more damage can really change the outcome of future fights with other great fighters....

    Enough with the hypocrisy. Cotto just got his ass kicked by Pac and he's getting a title shot without even a tune-up and non one seems to mind:patsch

    I see what your sayin man, if he gets a shot he would be a fool to turn it down, but no one really knows what he has left after the Mosley fight so i'm not really sure that he deserves it.

    honestly bro, you sound like a ****en newb right now....no disrespect bro, but you need to look back in the history of boxing, it's rare when a fighter actually does what you claim is the right way to earn a shot.....

    there is far more many cases you can bring up, margo's a warrior and fought everybody while giving us great fights, not no boring ass sparring sessions where people worry about ppv numbers and purses......margo is a boxing fans fighter and i will support him untiil the end.......questioning wether or not the man deserves a shot is ****en ridiculous......

    This thread isn't about Cotto. Comparing Cotto getting a fight against Yuri Foreman (in his first title defense) to Margarito possibly getting a fight with Pacquiao is two completely different scenarios.

    Cotto actually had more success with Pacquiao than Margo had with Mosley.

    I understand what your saying. I don't dislike Margarito he is a very exciting fighter and I understand that your a loyal fan, also I have no problem with him getting a big fight. I just don't think he should get a fight with a Pacquiao or Mayweather one fight removed from being soundly beaten by Shane Mosley. Just my opinion

    No it's not....

    Cotto got beat the hell up, and his very next fight he's fighting for a world title in a different weight class...

    Margarito got beat up and then beat down all in one fight... Suspended.... So he had a year to think about that hand crafted ass whooping he got... Then he came back and fought a tough fighter... And won..

    Ohh, and his beaten on Cotto was worse than Pacman.... Cotto didn't have it in him to run for 12 rounds against Margarito and gave up...

    nobody is for margo vs any of them first, everyone wants may vs manny but if them divas dont make the fight happen.....then why not let a warrior like margo take a shot at it, i mean who else is.....the other ones that will like pwill and martinez will probably get avoided like the plague anyways......so really, what else ????
