Sounds like a good cinderella story, but not logical. Foreman is to fast
and moves around way too much for a guy like cotto who has to set to
throw. I bet cotto at '54 is no faster than santos and we saw how easily
foreman handled him. I'm quite sure cotto does much better than santos,
but he'll still lose a tactical fight by scores of the 116-112 type.

Hey manhattan. If martinez leaves 154. Do you think the RING mag title
could be decided by a showdown between a (cotto victorious) foreman
    and sergei dzindziruk?

This is a really hard one to call because there are so many questions regarding it.

How much power can Cotto carry up from 147? He was obviously a bulldozer at 140 and didn't quite carry all of it up to 147.

How will he deal with the height and reach discrepancies? I know Avenel says it's not a big deal but at the end of the day it's a 4 inch height disadvantage and large reach discrepancy.

How will he look at 154 in general?

How much has his most recent beating affected him mentally?

I want Cotto to win and I hope he can, but there's too many questions for me to pick one side or the other.

Cotto doesn't need to set his feet to punch. He's demonstrated in the past, he can cut off the ring while simultaneously punching with authority.

Santos had to cut something like 30 pounds before the Foreman fight, drained himself down to junior middleweight, then bloated himself up to light heavy by fight time. Santos was clearly weight drained in that fight, so I think it's safe to say Cotto will be a lot quicker than Santos.

A better barometer to use for this particular fight would be the Foreman-Tsurkan fight. Tsurkan pressured Foreman from jump street, roughed him up and probably deserved the split decision that was awarded to Foreman.

    Based on what?

I think Cotto by destruction. Different level of fighter.

Based on Cotto being slower, smaller, less sturdy, and having less power than Santos, and based on him fighting out of an orthodox stance. I could be wrong though, we'll find out relatively shortly.

You just pretty much described Andrey Tsurkan, who's nothing more than a club fighter who gave Yuri fits and arguably beat him.

It's interesting that most who seem to be picking Yuri are basing it on Foreman's fight with a clearly drained Santos and seemingly haven't seen much of Yuri previously. But yeah, we'll find out shortly. :bbb

Cotto won't be bringing that type of pressure. The guy has taken too many beatings, and now he's going up to 154 where he's going to have to use 10 oz. gloves. Pacquiao is really the only guy that Cott has fought that's mobile. Paulie's also mobile, but they fought in a really small ring and he was basically forced to stand his ground. Cotto is going to have a hard time tracking down Yuri, and when he does he's going to be eating leather. But hey, if I'm wrong, don't hesitate to call me out on it.
