it amazes me how some idiots think that you either run or stand toe-to-toe... its like they cant grasp the fundamentals of boxing. moving away from an opponent is not running. david haye ran from valuev, cotto ran from pacquiao after round 3, mayweather didnt run from de la hoya or hatton!! theres a difference, its called boxing!!

Longer reach, better timing, knows how to counter off the back foot, etc.

See this is why I just can't respect Pac fans. The FANS wanted the Hatton fight. Marquez was a tune up and Marquez could have come in at any weight he felt effective at. Shane Mosley was a belt holder and was in training camp for another title fight in February that fell through so it wasn't like he was twiddling his thumbs. Keep in mind this is the same Mosley that Pac DUCKED to fight beat to a pulp gifted a belt no trainer having Cotto.

Manny has been ducking, dodging, and cherry picking since 135. Mark my words, he will be fighting beat down by Old Man Moslely Margarito next with no testing. You *******s will somehow make the case that this "makes sense". It is like Bob Arum has you under mind control. :patsch

It is because 99% of Pac's fans have never boxed in their lives. If Pac wasn't boxing they would be watching American Idol. They think it is "cool" to eat punches. It is "cool" to stand flat footed in front of a guy and swing away. That makes you a "warrior". Right...

mayweather is going to hit him before he even thinks about jumping in to land punches...

ever heard of beating the guy to the punch...mayweather will get off way before pac and they are gonna be hard punches...thats what changed in the 3rd rd of the mosley fight....mayweather started punching first instead of waiting to counter mosley...

Ludicrous, ludicrous thread. You clearly don't understand boxing at all.

Pacquiao has, far more than Floyd, proved his mettle in the heat of battle. Floyd has been hurt twice in his career, once by an incompetent Corley who had no clue how to kick on from that point, and once by a tired, past-prime Shane Mosley who very quickly ran out of ideas and steam. Floyd has never been in an intense war where both fighters give and take punishment, and have to rely on heart and strength of will to push them through hell. Floyd has never fought good enough fighters to force him into that zone. Castillo was good, but he was a smart pressure-boxer, he was not an intense warrior who pushed for a finish. Oscar was toothless and Zab Judah was a mental midget who always loses his biggest fights.

Pacquiao on the other hand has went deep, deep into the trenches with proven warriors like Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez on several occasions. In the second fight with Marquez, he lost round 8 big, and still managed to blaze back and edge a razor-thin contest - that took serious balls. In the first and second fights with Morales, he was trading fire for long periods against a historic warrior, and in the first he was badly cut and took a lot of clean shots, in the second he had to weather a storm before taking control. He emerged from those ordeals mentally stronger and ultimately victorious. Pacquiao was hit with a few big shots by Miguel Cotto, was on the ropes and under pressure against Miguel Cotto, and yet he did not even blink. That showed that he still has the extreme toughness and composure of a warrior.

You do not forget how to grit your teeth and battle through hell once you have done it - and Pacquiao has done it several times, Floyd never has, because he has never faced someone as relentless as a Morales or a Marquez.

Thread = a very silly and bad fail I'm afraid. :-(

:lol:thanks for that!! im very amused

....ANYWAY, lets kick on shall we?.....

.....you open your post by stating that I clearly dont understand boxing, which says that you are, infact, a very biased fan, and then you go on to talk about ''fighting in the trenches'' and ''battling through hell''. So am I to understand that this is your reason for stating that Pacquiao has got more than Mayweather 'skills-wise'?...OK, let me tell you the 'basic' fundamentals of boxing.... in one sentence ''hit and not be hit''!! That is what every boxer, professional or amateur, should strive to achieve in each fight. The best boxers in the world dont get hit too often (mayweather, hopkins, dawson, etc...). Manny is as talented as they come, dont get me wrong, but like all 'brawlers', no matter HOW fast he is, he has weaknesses that the best boxers can exploit to bend them to their will.

Dont even begin to tell me about boxing son! The very fact that you fail to recognise Floyds skills and what sets him apart from the rest proves that you dont have a clue yourself, but thats ok! Your a fan who prefers an exciting brawl than a chess match and I can respect that. Your not the only one out there. Just try and appreciate how good Floyd is. Theres a reason why hes never been into the trenches. He chooses not to!! He imposes his will on his opponent but doesnt allow their will to be inposed on him. This is what makes a great fighter in any sport!!!

    17 months actually.

People like to use the excuse that Mosley was coming off a great win. For one he was coming off a great win against Margo, different style, and possibly different margo(wraps). 2nd, 17months ago.

To put it into perspective, DLH was coming off an SD to Floyd 19 months ago. Morales was coming off a win over Pac 10 months ago when Pac beat him the 2nd time. Sure call them shot, whatever, but double standards eh.

For the record, I rate the Mosley win very highly for Floyd, he can only fight whats in front of him and he showed me he was better than I thought in that fight.

That said, Pac is a different fighter. They both have speed and power, but Judah has speed and power too, wouldnt say he fights like Mosley either. Their movements are different, angles, punches...I dont think anyone in the sport right now throws up and down better than Pac does right now, the guy will go to the bodym up to the head, back to the body in a 10 punch combination. He will also eat punches like nothing, Clottey would counter him with right hands and he would literally just walk through em, almost happy that Clottey actually threw a punch.

Also Im sure every Floyd fan was worried when they saw Floyd caught in round 2, he was in trouble for the rest of the round. You have all seen Pac smell blood, its nasty, he rains punches and you can be sure he would put FMJ on his ass. FMJ will probably get up but I have no doubt Pac puts him on the canvas if he hurts him like that.

That said, Im well aware of Floyds reach, that counter right hand and Pac's inability to cut off the ring well. One thing a lot of people havent noticed though is that Pac loves to move to the right. Watch him throw a right hook and roll under to the right, watch him lead with his left and move to the right...this will keep him away from PBF's right hand.

you must be confused with tyson.if you thnk its going to be that easy then you're going to be in for a surprise. mayweahter has to choose went to be agressive and when not to be. mosley dosent have the same punch rate or the same style for that matter as pac does. mayweather's approach will have to be well calculated, which again, will take a few rds.
