IMO since coming back from retirement, Floyd hasn't done enough yet to overtake Pacquiao at the #1 P4P position. Floyd's victories over JMM and Mosley is not in any way greater than Pacquiao's wins over Hatton, Cotto and Clottey. Floyd is almost there. A fight with Pacquiao will settle this issue without further debates down the line.
All of a sudden Mosley was to old to fight Floyd, but before they fought, every Floyd hater was taunting him for not fighting Shane. Haters please cut the crap. When Floyd beat Manny, is the excuse gonna be manny was to small?
The non boxers are the ones who are more inclined to pick Pacquaio. If you talk to boxers and boxing trainers, a bigger percentage of them would pick Mayweather.
Really its not that important, if they fight its not going to help either guy. But the truth is simple two of the three biggest wins that Pac has, came against fighters that Floyd domintated before Pac fought them. And for some reason *******s want to give Pac more credit because they say that he is smaller. Problem with that is so was the guys that he was fighting. Oscar was at his lowest weight in like 13 years, Cotto wasnt comfortable at the weight. The fact that Floyd beat two fighters in two fights that are ranked in the top 4 p4p by everyone going in really overshadows Pac fighting Oscar who had lost 3 or 5 fights before looking like **** against Forbes. Clottey was coming off a lose, Cotto was coming off a nasty knockout lose, hatton was coming off a nasty knockout lose, in both cases it was the first time they were ever stopped and BEATTEN. Confidence at an all time low, Arum, Roach and Pac pounced on that ****.
they said Floyd was scared. And when he said he was working on his distance everybody here took as he was working on running lol
He had a dominant win over a blown up Super Featherweight. Juan Manuel Marquez was going life and death with opponents down at 135lbs, what makes you think he's even remotely as effective at 147lbs? You're bias for Floyd Mayweather, that'll be it Big Reg. There was a thread the other day where Floyd fans were going ape **** because people were suggesting Mayweather should go up to 160lbs. "He's not big enough, you just want to see him lose". Juan was the same fighter at 130lbs as he was at 147lbs? Yawn. The experts picked Marco Antonio Barrera to beat Manny Pacquiao in 2003, and they picked Oscar De La Hoya to beat Manny Pacquiao in 2008. A fair amount of experts also gave Miguel Cotto a good chance at victory, but of course he was dominated and had to resort to survival mode. This against a fighter who started his career as a Flyweight and has been moving through the divisions beating the best fighters in virtually every weight class. Ricky Hatton was certainly a better more effective comodity at 140bs than he was at 147lbs. Of course, it's in your interest as a Floyd Mayweather supporter to deny this and scoth at the thought of 7lbs making a different. Look through your fight tapes, I'm sure there's countless examples of world class fighters being less effective as they move up. Hatton looked like **** against Collazo, a fight I had him losing. People claim Mayweather ruined Hatton, despite him coming off one of his career best performances prior to fighting Manny....who blitzed him in 2 rounds and rendered him unconscious for 2-3 minutes. Pacquiao beating Hatton at 140lbs and the way he did is more impressive than what Floyd did...in my estimation. Let's assume we call it evens on the rest (even though Manny's wins over Marquez and Barrera are virtually better than anything on Floyd's record), Manny Pacquiao never retired...he stayed in the game because he wasn't of the opinion that "I have nothing more to prove". Whilst Floyd was out buying cars and flashing his money, Pacquiao was fighting against guys with physical advantages and devastating the majority of them. Mosley looked like ****....he's 38 years old...he hadn't fought in 15 months. As a Floyd fan, you're supposed to dismiss all that, but as a Boxing fan who knows what conditioning and age can mean in a fight, you have to acknowledge that the victory was less than pristine. I have Pacquiao at number 1, and I can't see an honest reason for anyone else to feel differently. He's not stopped winning, he's barely losing more than 2-3 rounds in each fight, and this a guy who doesn't even belong at 147lbs...people were laughing at the thought of him campaigning successfully at 140lbs 2-3 years ago. Boxing fans are ever so fickle.
