not a fix but clottey only came for a paycheck and to survive he had nothing to lose and everything to gain he had a chance to be great and rich but he didn't at least try for it which is a shame
true this was his ticket to make millions of $$$$$$. If he would have won this fight we might be talking mayweather-clottey. Mosley got paid 7 million so i expect clottey to at least get 4-5 million.
just because arum said hes a good loser its a fix? people will believe what they want to believe but its obvious Arum was being sarcastic/hyping the fight by suggesting manny will crush him so bad you can "...put the L on his record now"
The strange part is this. I have seen Clottey speak on WW fighters on numerous occasions. He calls them ALL WEAK. All of these clowns talking about how "predictable" a Clottey loss was are full of crap. He beat Cotto, but was robbed. He was beating Margarito, but was injured. He was beating Baldomir, but was robbed. Name one fighter that "beat" him? He hit Pac at will and lost a VERY strange looking fight. The funny part is that somehow he got a *BONUS* that DOUBLED his purse. Huh? :think
I mean, it is logical for a fighter's promoter to say that about him right? That is what you pay your promoter to say... You are a loser. Not saying he did say all of that, but then Clottey has that strange performance where he hits Pac at will, but throws no punches? That fight looked fishy and the bonus Clottey got made it look even more silly.
Got a link for that bonus? IMO 99.99999% doubt the fight was a fix, he knows manny isnt much of a **** talker, so he decided not to dish it out either. He calls other fighters pussies because they don't want to fight him, but here's Manny giving him a chance to be in the limelight, to take the P4P spot in a grand stadium. I say he was grateful. The whole Arum thing was just him being smart about it. Being a business man entails producing the most return for the least risk. Clottey was not a serious risk for Pacquiao, and Arum's future returns.
I remember thats all I heard him talking about. I think he went into the fight with that mind set, Im not gonna get knocked out, Im no gonna get knocked out. Thats why he didnt open up. He was just happy to go 12rnd I guess.
wow bald head I actually agree with you except for the part where Clottey purposely threw the fight. That's just bull****. He fought basically the same fight he always does, and most people predicted Manny was going to outwork him for 12 rounds anyway. I don't see anything he could have done to win the fight.
I agree with you 100%! I said the fight was fixed the day they annouced the fight. I never seen so much glove touching and actual hugging each other during a fight. I thought Manny fought wars in the ring. This was just a simple show put on to collect money. They were even smiling at each other during the weigh-in. It was a nice buddy buddy show to make money. Clottey touched gloves with Manny more times than he threw punches.
