    Folks,

We all know that Roberto Duran was an awesome 135 pound lightweight champion from 1972 thru to 1979.. However, during his lightweight reign of terror, Roberto Duran often fought at weights of 136 to 147 pounds during the middle to late 1970s...

Also, many boxing fans have a loving attachment to former WBA / IBF 140 pound champion Aaron Pryor during the early to middle 1980s.. A. Pryor was a TV favorite while he was a champion at Jr. Welterweight...

Question is: Who'd come out on top in a 15 rounder between Roberto Duran and Aaron Pryor at 140 pounds max??? I'm talkin' about the Duran of '78 and the Pryor of '82 in a time machine........

    MR.BILL:huh

Duran Tko 10 awesome an very competetive fight , but by the mid rounds Duran takes it to another level, Pryor still is right there but Duran starts picking his shots and breaks the Hawks feathers apart. Duran puts the finishing touches in the 10th or 11th.

THis might have ended being Durans best weight. Could you imagine a combination of the Montreael Duran and the LW Duran? WOOOOOOOOO Scary!!!

Duran's better defense, punching technique pays dividends and wins out but Pryors intensity, chin, speed makes it a very tough hard fight

Duran would be too mean and talented and hard punching. He would intimidate Pryor like he did Leonard, only Pryor is no Leonard in size or ability. Duran by a savage KO in 7 at the most.

    Q:

Does anyone recall the photo taken between Duran and Pryor back in the 80s in which KO magazine published the photograph with a statement written below saying: "One man is on the rise, while the other man is on the downside?"

If memory serves me correctly, Pryor was dressed in a suit and Duran was casually clothed with a camera dangling around his neck.......

Anyway, the shot of the two fighters was taken around circa-1982 when Duran had already lost to "Benitez & Laing," but had beaten Jimmy Batten..... And Pryor was steaming hot off his TKO over Alexis Arguello down in Florida......

Also, by 1982, Duran was fighting at 154 pounds, while Pryor was still leaned out at 140 pounds.........

Funny how things work out........... By 1986, Duran was comebacking at 160 pounds and being competitive in losing a close decision to hot Robbie Sims, while Aaron Pryor was rapidly becoming a crackhead and looking ill and out-of-touch with boxing........

Everyone always picks Duran, I'd like to see someone pick Pryor he had much more intensity/workrate, faster feet and hands and was Durans equal in strength/chin/balls. Pryors defense is pretty good to, probably not as good as Durans

Actually I'll be the 1 given no one else will, I'll change my pick to Pryor close UD

Duran, Pryor is tailor made for him, he'll cause duran some problems with his workrate and his angles of attacks but it would not be enough. Duran would be the boss on the inside, landing the better shots, defensively is much better. I expect that pryor would last the distance but he drops a UD

Off topic, but yes, Pryor is NO Leonard.................... Not at all............ All the talk on how SRL ducked Pryor in the early 80s is fargin' bullcrap.......

The Duran of 1980 Montreal was an air-tight 145 pounds and full of **** and vinegar...... Very Wicked..........

Very few, if any previous 135 pounders' could've out-pointed SRL on June 20, 1980, over in Montreal.......... Duran was indeed one-of-a-kind...........

Off topic again, but I really liked the dude (Leroy Haley) who beat Saoul Mamby for the WBC title in 1982 2X before getting jacked outta his crown 2X by the judges against Bruce Curry........

By the 1984 title fight against Billy Costello, Leroy Haley was aging and slipping........

    I LIKED HALEY!!

Have you got any evidence for any of those claims?

Nobody's dissing Pryor here, he just happens to be in with one of the best fighting machines ever. You needn't perceive there to exist an obligation to go against the grain for his sake.
