    Newbie post of the day:rofl

    So because Douglas beat Tyson he ranks higher then him? Styles make fights and when you've fought 350+ fights you can expect to lose a few times. Styles make fights.
    Chagaev s*cks as a pro. But we'll never know how Savon would've fared in the pro ranks.

    Savon also beat Chagaev twice fool. Plus Savon was a 100 times more decorated amateur then Chagaev.

    Blah Blah Blah Jorge Luis Gonzalez, same type, same result as the rest of these cubans who defect and get signed to big ass contracts before fighting the first time. Savon would get taken apart by hungrier fighters who have to fight to eat.

    Savon beat Chagaev once and was more decorated because he was a lifetime amateur with more than 400 more fights than Chagaev. Chagaev's first of two victory's over Savon was when he was 17 years old and Savon was in his prime at 26.

    For what it is worth, I think the World of Savon but he would have had major trouble with the pro heavyweights on your list.

    Impossible to say. U gotta realise that amateur boxing and pro boxing are so different theyre almost different sports. The best boxer in my gym, commonwealth gold medalist, slick, quick, strong. Amazing athlete. First pro bout - left hoook to his chin. Pro career over. The rules are different in each, making the skills different in each. Slick boxers do well, but active straigjt punhers who score alot of points do too. Youll notice floud didnt use the roll much in thr ams cos glancing blows could be misscored as points. Savon was impressive but who knows. Sometimes u take off the 16oz s and heqdgeqr and they turn to **** instantly.

    If you're going the "would have" route, you were better off mentioning Teofilo Stevenson.

    Teofilo Stevenson > Felix Savon

    He was 19 the first time and 21 the second time.
    It was nice Chagaev had Savon's number that day. Ruslan was a good amateur.

    I'm not even going in a discussion about how Savon would'ved done as a pro simply because we will never know. He might've done great, he might've sucked.

    My only point was to make clear the newbie made a dumb comment.

    I'm neutral in this. You can't say Felix Savon wasn't a good fighter because he was, but then he never fought professionally to see how far and truly great he could of been. I'm sure he would of won a belt at least, because he really was that good, but then he never fought with anyone on par with his abilities or power to hurt him like he could of fought in the pros. Yea it's easy to blame Savon, but it is heartwrenching to leave your family behind. I blame politics, not Savon.

    :lol::rofl:patsch

    Based on what? The guy backed straight up with his Chin up in the air. He would get brutalized as a pro his style was awful but effective for the amateur system.

    Damn a lot of stupid comments around here, i guess people dont have an imagination. Look i know amateur boxing is different than the pros, but in the HW division it really doesnt matter. Look at the way the heavys fight nowadays. Look at their style is just big guys jabing hugging and throwing big rights. Savon was big and hit like a mule, we'll never know but is nice to talk about it. Winning a olympic gold medal gets you a lot of hype and a good promotional contract. **** cotto didnt win one and he had a nice contract with arum after the olympics. I'm telling you if he wouldve deserted don king and bob arum wouldve been in a biding was to sign him. He was as big as lewis, golota, bowe, and the klits brothers. And had better boxing skills than any of them so i think he couldve easily become champion. If john ruiz can win a belt savon wouldve won a bunch.
