I just watched Carwin vs. Mir for the second time and Mir's problem is this: He loves himself way too much. He's IN love with himself. He believes he's god's gift to MMA and the fans. He's the most pompous piece of work I think I've ever seen. This is the whole reason he got KTFO vs. Carwin. He didn't believe Carwin was a serious threat because he thought he was just too damn good for him. When Carwin had him pressed against the cage, Mir would look around and try to look pretty, as if he was bored. 2 seconds later he's KO'd. He did the same thing in the second lesnar fight when he was on his back. If the man would stop believing he's the chosen one, he could probably be a lot more consistent with his wins. He's more WWE than fukin Lesnar is, because he's a fukin show in himself. That pride he has is kicking his own ass.
I agree with you to a certain extent. Mir was fighting Carwin like he was the bigger man instead of respecting Carwin and fighting like he was the weaker man which he was. He was trying to hold a collar and elbow tie up instead of going for a tight upper body clinch which is what a proper jiujistu fighter should do.
I dislike his personality too. But I think his losses had more to do him not being able to deal with his opponents strength. I noticed in his fights with Mir and Carwin how easily he was bullied by them. Loved seeing his pompous ass getting knocked out though
You don't have a clue at all what the hell you're talking about. Sure he lost the Carwin fight, and he explained why, and the **** had nothing at all to do with him "loving himself". He admitted he over trained way to much in one area, which is takedown defense. Mentally he started celebrating early when Carwin couldn't take him down, and got caught. He also admitted that rather than having the instinct to survive, Carwin's power really shocked him, then he got caught with another one. **** happens. His losses or personality have NOTHING to do with WWE, and in fact breaks the fight game down better than anyone I've ever seen. Sure he has an ego, what fighter doesn't in some way or another? He did believe Carwin was a serious threat. If you paid any attention to the build up coming into UFC 111, like the countdowns, etc, then you would have known and seen him call Carwin a better version of Lesnar, and that if he could beat Carwin, then he'd be more confident he could beat Lesnar again. And aren't you the same dude that posted after the weigh in between Mir & Kongo, that Mir looked like he was on roids to you? Please STFU
Mir's problem was that he was beat by a couple of stronger fighters. Sure he made mistakes like in the Lesnar rematch he rocked Lesnar with some good knees and went for a flying and knee and fell flat on his back and course he didnt get up from that point. Show me a fighter who is going to get up from underneath Brock Lesnar when he has their head pinned up agianst the cage pounding them. Frank did relax on the cage vs Carwin and he got clocked by a murderous puncher who KTFO everyone he fights. So Frank Mir made mistakes just like almost every fighter does in almost every fight what happened was his opponets capitilized on them. Did Tim Sylvia really need to take Frank down when they fought ? **** no but he did and got armbared for it. Did Brock really need to stand square in Frank's guard ? Nope but he did and got a Kneebar for his mistake. So obviously Frank has won big fights by taking advantage of opponets mistakes and lost fights that same way.
First of all, get off Mir's nutsack. You're a moron if you can't admit Mir's pride gets him into trouble. Just look at his foolish expression on his face seconds before getting KO'd by Carwin. Had he have been taking the dude more serious he wouldn't have been making his goofy "ya, I'm cool" zoolander faces for fuk sakes. About the juice, ya, I've had over 15 years experience with steroids and steroid users so I can see the signs. Does it for sure mean he's on them? Of course not but the signs are there. So please, sit down and stfu yourself
Mir's problem is he lacks presence of mind when in difficulty. His complete inability to effectively change position gets him hurt and finished.
Mir's bigger issue was his inability to close the space in the clinch with Carwin. There should have never been space between those two for those uppercuts to come blazing in.
And that was on him. Look how relaxed and confident he appeared to be the seconds before he got owned. He wasn't trying to get out of harms way. I think it was obvious he didn't respect Carwin's ability and he paid the price.
Honestly, I don't know if he didn't respect Carwin or just was too stupid to realize there was space. I'm not going to disagree that Mir think way too highly of himself, but I don't think arrogance is what causes him to lose. The brock loss was awful fightplanning and the Carwin loss was a mistake, a big one.
I just think he allows himself to get in situations because he thinks he's in total control, even on his back. I don't think he's that stupid to not realize there was space right before the assault. If they fought again I guarantee Mir would fair a lot better. Not saying he'd win but it would be very competitive.
