Dont know enough about Ortiz i had read about him but never seen him fight befor last night. Enjoyed watching his fight far more than the main event though.
Yeah I agree. Having said that, Paulies movement was very good. He did well not to get caught on the ropes and to evade khans right hand. This is why I think khan could benefit from leading with the right a bit more. He should also jab to the chest more. I think the further he goes up, fighters will know his game. He always follows a jab with a right hand to the head and rarely does anything to try and open up his opponents. Needs to vary and sit down on his punches. Maybe this will come with time.
If Khan can take Ortiz shots, then Khan... but if he cant, then he wont! simple as that!! :bart I noticed last night when Ortiz beat Campbell that he doesnt really like to throw WITH his opponent any more. This would benefit Khan but I wont be betting money on it.
Pretty much it. I liked him countering Paulie with the uppercut at times, which he'd never shown before. He needs to work on a left hook in my opinion both to lead with and as part of a combination - he is pretty simple at the minute, jab, straight right, straight left and so on.
Khan would take it.... Something seems to have dulled Ortiz's fists. He looked shitty out there against Campbell last night. He should have destroyed the man by all means but instead we got a UD.
If you watch the fights from Oisin ***an on, you can see he started to work on this and mix some good hooks in. He showed some good lateral movement as well and better defence. He didn't show all that much of this in the fight last night, you could kinda tell he was a bit stiff from nerves. Though his defensive movement was a bit sharper and agree Paulie spoiled his game somewhat. I was surprised at the constant 1-2, 1-2. Not that it didn't work for him! But he threw about 5 solid body hooks last night and they all landed, one of which seemed to bother Malignaggi. You think against a speed fighter Khan would know to work the body and pick him off when he slows down later in the fight. Still, a convincing victory against a good fighter. Can't take that away from him.
