Dear Friends kind regards Today we continue our Step back in time series. In 1999 Orlin Norris fought a no contest against when an uppercut after the bell caused him to fall down akwardly and injured his knee. In 2000 Norris fought Andrew Golota in a bid to resurrect his career. Here the match in its entirety. 1. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7epMCTzbJ4[/ame] 2. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYueLW-C8hI&feature=related[/ame] 3. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAwTM_nIRWg&feature=related[/ame] 4. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6Nhi5TFoyY&feature=related[/ame] 5. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMm6lOtp7Qs&feature=related[/ame] Golota won this match by decision over 10 rounds and it was after this match that he was pitted against Mike Tyson in that disastrous match in October of that year. No doubt Tyson's management must have watched this match and took note of how easy it was for Orlin to catch Golota with quick punches. If you could watch this match and give me your views I'd appreciate it. yours thankfully John
"Orlin Norris- a solid experienced fighter and former WBA cruiserweight champion. Norris entered the ring with a record of 50-5 and 1 no-contest . At the end of the first round Mike hit Norris with a left hook after the bell rang. Norris went down and fell so unlucky that he apparently hurt his knee. Even Evander Holyfield backed Tyson by saying that the crowd is so loud that it's difficult to hear the bell. Norris didn't carry on. The fight was to be a no decision and so a disappointing evening for Mike. Norris went to his corner without any problems, "he must have hurt his knee when he sat on his chair"...-Tyson It was an easy way for Norris to get out of the fight. He got his purse and was not (officially)beaten by Tyson. In 2001 Norris fought Vitali Klitschko and quit after about 100 seconds in round one , he went down after a ridiculous punch, waited for the referee to count him out, got up and that was is it. A disgrace to himself and boxing." Thanks for posting the fight though.
Dear Kalasinn kind regards I totally agree with you. I remember watching that farce of a match up live on Sky extra back in 1999. It was quite dissapointing because Orlin Norris looked like he was going to make a fight of it untill the uppercut after the bell. Here it is again for your "enjoyment". This content is protected Let us not forget Norris's gutsy performance against Vitali Norris. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_Ci_J0UG2Q[/ame] It seems as though when someone really turned the heat up on Norris he was more content to get his paycheck and go home. Well I suppose we can't begrudge the man for trying to make some money for himself. yours thankfully John
I certainly didn't expect you to agree after what you wrote in the initial post regarding the fight, I'm pleased there is no dispute as to what really happened. Anyway at least Golota-Norris is a decent watch. :good
