Funny you say this. I thought about this too. But Overeem would pulverise him. His size and strength alone would be way too much for Shogun to handle.
After thinking about it your totally correct. Overeem is built like an NFL Defensive End now and of course still has all his great skills. How anyone in the 205 divison could handle this guy I dont know.
Overeem was gangly when Shogun first fought him. He was probably cutting crazy weigh. This Overeem is huge. The strength advantage would be crazy. They'd lock up a clinch and Overeem would probably throw him like a rag doll. Overeem's a better fighter. Fighting in K1 might get him a loss but it's keep his stand up sharp. In saying this Shogun is skilled, devastating and awesome and he could beat heavies. Theres a video of him out striking JDS. If Shogun fights the right fight and Overeem can't employ his size, strength and power then it comes down to skills and Shogun sure as **** has those.
overeem is imo right now the number 2 at heavyweight, he is strong like hercules and has skills of a light heavy. i would bet that he would beat the **** out the complete ufc. he is taller then brock, almost as big as him but with way more skills. i don't know how fedor will beat him, but he will beat that the only thing for sure
This is not sure at all. As you do, I really don't know either what Fedor should do to beat Overeem... this guy is much stronger, much taller, world class striker with extremely powerful fists, lowkicks, knees (see K1), good on the ground... if he's on top of Fedor like Rogers was for a couple of seconds then it is probably over... if Fedor strikes with him he has no chance... the only thing I can think of is clinching with him for two rounds and make all that muscle tired, but will Overeem allow this? He is in the driver's seat in this fight. On top of this one of Fedor's greatest assets, his speed and timing, is fading at 34 and Overeem is at his peak right now at 29. I can imagine how Fedor can beat any heavyweight in the world except of Overeem. You can't judge Overeem by his record after he gained about 40 lbs of muscle (probably by using steroids). I don't see any heavyweight who can beat him under MMA rules at this time. And the doping controls won't stop him either as he already gained all that muscle and does not need to be on the juice all the time. He can manage that mass with good diet and training. Expect him to dominate the MMA heavyweight division in the following years.
Overeem said that he was pissing blood trying to cut weight and this was harming him. Now that he fights in the HW division, be can basically have his 7 meals a day and eat anything he wants.
He is chinny. He has also been subbed before. Id expect Fedor to catch him with a punch and lay him out.
I think he would beat all bar Carwin or JDS. But more so because I think Carwin would kill him with something against the fence.
