When he beat Ortiz and Cayo...he has world class punch power and plenty more to bring to table then Salita and Malignaggi.

Some say he also beat Kotelnik, He also beat Morua.....says a fair bit IMO. He isn't just a man who's beat Ortiz by making him quit..got a bit more to his record then people think.

Awas has pretty much answered this point for me.

I'll continue with the other point I was making, though: From memory, JCC had something like 70 fights before he took the big fight with Taylor and you could argue that more than two thirds of Duran's fights were meaningless and were there to build his record up, but people seem to miss the point: the interim fights were there for a reason and an interim fight for Khan would be a perfect way practice and refine more of the stuff he's been doing in the gym that he hasn't had the chance to apply in fights yet. I'm in no way comparing the Khan's career or potential to two greats, but pointing out that people seem to have a different set of rules and yardsticks when discussing interim bouts now that Khan wants one.

Khan is still very much in the development stage and, personally, I think winning the world title came way too soon for him (maybe even a year) and now people are getting a bit unrealistic with regards to Khan's development. I think people need to realise that he's nowhere near where Roach wants him and now they are trying to cram in different styles of fighters to test-out different aspects in his new game.

That said, for people who dislike Khan I find it amazing that they are even interested in his career.

Alexander UD. From what I've seen of him, I think he's the best in the division. Got an awesome set of skills in his arsenal:yep.

Come on, Grant, surely you see the logic behind this fight? A chance to chalk off his only loss, to silence the critics and a chance to silence the casual fans?

It would be devastating for him if he lost the fight, though. Huge props to Khan if he wants to avenge his only defeat as he really doesn't need to given where both of their careers are.

I'd much prefer to see another interim fight rather than Prescott, but I do understand why Khan would want the fight and it is one of the only options out there marketable enough for Khan in such a short timeframe, IMO.

I agree with you Losfer...i see what you mean but two wrongs don't make a right and we gotta remember Khan wants out of boxing in 5 years or so...and in modern times fighters normally fight 3 times a year, i agree and know what you mean about refining skills...but the kids so ****ing arrogant i wanna see him back this talk up ASAP.

I be disappointed if he fought Presscott in July...really would.

Looking at it from a promoters POV it's an utterly pointless fight.

I can see why Khan would want it, of course, and it'd be easily marketable to the causal fans but I still believe its a needless risk.

Prescott has been proven as a Euro level fighter at best and Khan is on the verge of mixing it with the best at his weight.

I believe Khan is gonna be KO'd again, but why risk that against an average fighter when he is on the verge of massive fights?

All for personal gain? It'd do nothing for his resume really.

It's not only a chance to get a chalk off a previous loss but also a very decent tune up for Maidana he could work on some of the things he will need to beat Maidana. Don't get me wrong I don't love the fight but you have to be realistic they have 8 weeks to make it happen and I like fighters being kept busy if he doesn't take this one on then he will be out for at least 5 months minimum more likely 6 Amir wouldn't want that for a very tough fight. And there is only 1 other realistic opponent in all honesty and that is Ajose if you have the choice what would you more rather see Khan-Prescott II or Khan-Olusegan?

Khan's going to fight Katsidis on July 31st, not Prescott. It will be in England and on Sky Box Office.

I don't think people are being unrealistic. When you have a 'world title' you are expected to fight the best fighters, including other 'world champions'. He shouldn't of gone for it if it was going to be a burden. What you can't do is pick up a world title and hold it hostage.

Did you read the entire post? I actually said that the title has come a year too soon for him.

I think its come at a good time for him really. Besides, he couldn't wait around for Kotelnik to lose otherwise he might have had to fight one of these guys for the world title.

I don't think you can say he's holding the title 'hostage' anyway as he's had his mando and won the title off of the champ; it isn't like he's pulling the sort of **** that Guillermo Jones or Cory Spinks are. The 'interim' bull**** is the WBA's doing anyway and they should have stripped Khan had they felt so strongly about giving belts out. There is no doubt Khan got the title way too soon and, consequently, people's expectation is sky-high because of it.

You know full well that a belt doesn't mean a fighter will all of a sudden take on the best in the division, TFFP.

I know it doesn't mean they will, it means they should, and we should expect that of them. Otherwise we're hardly helping matters when we willingly lap up fighters of each organization doing their own things, whether that be cherrypicking easy fights or whatnot.

I think the reason they fought Kotelnik for a world title was because Kotelnik was seen as a soft touch, especially stylistically it was an easy nights work. Khan has admitted as much himself. Kotelnik had already nearly lost his title to Maidana so they knew they had to get in there quickly before he did end up losing it to someone else that have been trickier. It was their big opportunity so I don't think we can now say it was a bit early, if Kotelnik went and fought Tim Bradley and lost that title Khan would be a step back from what he is now.

Let's remember what Prescott is here.

    A journeyman who got lucky.

He won't test Khan in the least, if he does he'll knock him the **** out again.

That's not a sensible fight for me and certainly not preperation.

I can see what people are saying but there are better keep busy fights out there for my money.

Oh yeah I agree you wouldn't believe the amount of people that I had to tell that Prescott was **** and just got lucky. But my logic is a hopeful one in that I hope ITV pick it up and due to this the budget won't be to huge. Schaefer has talked about using this as part of the Marquez-Diaz PPV telecast which would be a smart move on his part and it would put more money into the coffers for Khan's July 31 date.

But who can he face at such short notice for what could would probably be low £. I can think of only a few logical fights Prescott (rematch, big puncher, chance to work on moves needed to beat Maidana) Olusegan (Undefeated, cheap, uk based) John Murray (long standing rivalry, undefeated, fought recently) Michael Katsidis (Big puncher, known in the UK, already in shape) but beyond that I am struggling to think of anyone else in all honesty.
