Joe Louis wouldn't muscle holyfield around. he would punch holyfield around. I like Louis by early-mid round knockout over Holyfield. There is no such thing as a good chin against Joe Louis.

I've always thought the key to getting to Holyfield is Body-Shots...then go to the head. He was never a thick man around the mid-section because he was a naturally lighter fighter. You need to tire him out.

Holyfield also had moments in bouts where he looked tired, stood right in front of you with his chin exposed waiting to be hit. He had his "off" moments that I often wondered if that was so and so in there...could he be in trouble.
Of course, it being Holyfield, he would let you have this question in mind and then he would suddenly burst out with energy and start fighting back.

Evander Holyfield vs Alex Stewart was a fight I had in mind.

Holyfield was an animal. Big Heart, Great Chin...the Will to fight to the very end.

Louis' fast, pinpoint punching and heavy artillery at mid-range would make him the favourite in my book.

    Jack Dempsey
    Joe Louis
    Rocky Marciano
    Sonny Liston
    George Foreman

wildcards who could do it but the chance is slim:
    Langford
    Baer
    Shavers
    Tyson
    Lewis
    W. Klitschko

Suzie already covered Lewis. But Bowe WTF? In possibly his best performance, Bowe couldn't stop an undefeated prime Heavyweight Champion Evander.

    :huh

Louis stopped some of the bigger physically stronger heavies in history like Primo. That's not an issue, Louis accurate' combination punching and ability to close a fight out of nowhere is the issue. Everyone he hurt at his best, generally got put away no matter how durable or skilled.

I think Foreman could do it in his prime! If you look at George at age 45 connecting with the Jab and Left Hook on Holyfield he was just a bit slow landing the Big Right hand that never connected in that fight. You would have to think a younger quicker Foreman would have landed the Right hand KO punch after repeatedly stunning Holyfield with the Jab. Holyfield kind of had a Ken Norton style and you saw what happened in the Foreman-Norton fight.

Holyfield was close to impossible to stop in his prime, and if there was anything he was vulnerable to it would be the uppercut. So what fighters had massive uppercuts. I would favor Tyson to win by knockout, but guys like David Tua and Razor Ruddock would have had a shot at it.

Prime-for-Prime, Holyfield is undoubtedly one of the hardest to stop Heavyweights in history, but I give Joe Louis, Mike Tyson, Sonny Liston and George Foreman realistic chances to do it.
I think Jack Dempsey and Rocky Marciano could stop the prime Cruiserweight version.

    I was thinking Foreman.

Maybe a younger Lennox Lewis without Stewart because he was more of a puncher. If bert Cooper can get lucky and do it, I really wouldn't put it past lewis to catch Holy with an uppercut.
And the ref might stop it, I'm not talking about knocked out.

I'd have to say Rocky Marciano wouldn't I - I mean, in my opinion anyone hit by that right hand versus Walcott would be gone - goodnight - asleep - thats anyone IMO.

Holyfield would be absolutely made for Louis to kO also IMO

I personally think Holyfield gets hugely over-rated by many - the guy was in desperate trouble versus Bert Cooper for christs sake!!

Foreman would probably stop him as does Dempsey

i think Jersey Joe Walcott has a shout too
