To be fair, Paulie brought at lot to the table for the that fight. They wanted a recognisable name at 140 who could sell a fight to the Americans. Thats why Paulie got the job and the money.

There was never a time when Khan really needed either Murray or Thaxton. People on Brit boxing forums wanted to see those fights but they never really got any head of steam up with the casual fan and Khan always had other options.

 

Khan-Thaxton should've happened I reckon.

I'd have liked to see Kahn-Thaxton, other than them both being from the North West Murray never got within shooting distance of Kahn career wise really.

Its old trick to use a poor/ easy fight to claim that a harder one was ducked though, they are rarely "either/ or" situations.

Thaxton's camp rejected a significant offer from Khan's promoter Frank Warren outside the bidding process, before Khan elected to switch his attention elsewhere just a day before purse offers were due to be opened.

He can keep his distance with them, but yeah if Khan gets clipped then who knows what would happen.
