Hell no. On a technical level Overeem is miles ahead. But he is not esactly a defensive wizard and is chinny. I see it as a shoot, sprawl, pin against the cage, upercut/right hand...= almost dead Overeem. If you were to put them in a ring with boxing gloves on Overeem would most of the time beat the **** out of carwin.
Overeem is strong, I see him reversing the pin and take Carwin to the ground or knee Carwin hard in the clinch.
Carwin is not going to be taken down by Overeem he is a far superior wrestler and I do not see him reversing Carwin at all. As well as Carwin being probably everbit as strong as Overeem is. Overeem could do major damage with Knees from a thai clinch.
Being taller than Brock doesn't translate into a victory. Sure he can out strike Brock, but Lesnar would never let it get to a point where he's being out striked by Overeem. He'd put Overeem on his back and maul him.
Fedor will chew him up and spin him out. If your impressed by physiques so be it. But Fedor is exceptional Vs ANY heavy of ANY size. He will take him down and he will submit him.
I really hope so, but I don't see it. I always try to figure out fights due to the fighters strengths and weaknesses and not by looking at rankings or records. I can only imagine Fedor tiring him in a clinch, but Overeem is just too strong and will be able to break the clinch or knee Fedor into oblivion during the clinch. You think Fedor can take Overeem down? He couldn't do it to the much weaker Arlovski even when he tried. He had problems taking Rogers down and wasn't able to do it until Rogers tired. And Rogers was on the other hand able to reverse Fedor when Fedor unsuccessfully tried to submit him. Don't underestimate size and strength. Should Fedor strike with Overeem? With his reach advantage it would be like Wlad vs Chagaev... Overeem can use his reach advantage and jab / lowkick Fedor through the rounds with his hands up without risking anything causing severe damage. If the fight goes into the later rounds Fedor should have some stamina advantage. So in a 3 round fight my money would be on Overeem. In a 5 round championship fight Fedor has more chances, but I still see Overeem winning. I've seen all fights from Fedor, he's without any doubt the greatest MMA fighter in history, but at 34 his reign is slowly coming to an end.
Strength has nothing do do with the ability to take people down. The reason that he could not take Arlovski down is that Arlovksi has great balence and good TDD.
The reason why he couldnt take AA down is because he didnt want to. Fedor stood with a striker who is technically better than him and knocked him out. He did the same with CC. If Fedor wanted to get AA to the mat he could have.
Dude you sound like a bandwagoner. You've seen all of Fedors fights but you actually think he cant take Overeem to the mat if he wants to?!?! :think That statement alone makes little to no sense at all.
Yes, but Overeem has good balance and good take down defense as well but is much stronger, so it will be very difficult to take him down for anybody.
Why? Fedor has some crazy hips and good judo skills, but even he has problems taking people down which are much bigger/heavier/stronger than him. Look at the fights with Schilt and Hong Man Choi for example, who are bigger/heavier than him but without any TDD. He was able to take them down, but only to land on his back, which can't be good against Overeem. He had problems on the ground with Mark Hunt, who was much heavier, but without much experience and was nearly subbed! You really think Fedor can take down Overeem at will? I'm not an bandwagoner BTW. I don't post here often, but you can check my earlier posts about Fedor and Overeem, my opinion did not change at all after the Overeem/Rogers fight.
Do you actually think those are valid examples? Schilt is 6ft 11. Choi is well over 7ft. Both weigh in excess of 300lbs. Hunt also was a 300lb behemoth. All of them are notes strikers who had major physical advantages over Fedor. Likewise Overeem is a noted striker who doesnt have a ground game thats even worth comparing to Fedor. He's capable on the floor no question about that but hardly good enough to grapple legitimately with Fedor who can sub him at will.
