http://ringsidereport.com/?p=2332 :good pretty good interview. you rarely hear anything from him, so this is a pretty nice slice of life. he opens up about mid way after the typical exams answers i.e. "yes i did what you just asked me". benny & rooster get in on dis
Funny Vaden didnt mention anything about that when I spoke to him. Hes very religious now. I guess I would have wanted to kill him too. I wonder if it was Ami Norris he was screwing with. Shes beyond hot.
Yey i reported this months back when many asked about why Norris hated him so much. I know people on the inside that told me this back when they had fought. Rumor was that Vaden was doing Terry's ex wife.
Terry's a legend, always thought he doesn't get his due on here, he was avoided like the plague. THis bit I never knew, shes lucky she wasnt married to Valero Winning that title was another great feeling of mine. I wanted to become the undisputed world champion. The third guy (WBA titlist Julio Cesar Vasquez) wouldn’t fight me and this other guy Paul Vaden was having an affair with my ex-wife and that’s why we had all of the anger and animosity. This guy would come into the gym and hang on my coattails and all along he was trying to screw my wife. He acted as though he wanted to be my friend and hang around me. So I was angry going into the fight and even building up to the fight. I would catch her coming from his apartment; me being a Gemini, I was very snoopy, the way I would snoop around and investigate. I was a real private investigator. I was following her around and would catch her going to his place. I was just so upset, so pissed off that she was doing this to me with a guy that boxed. I would have been hurt if it had been somebody else, some other stranger, but it was a guy who was trying to be my friend and you know, wanted to be a champion, the type of champion I was at that point. I was so pissed off that in that fight, I wanted to kill him. I truly wanted to kill that man. It was the first time I ever really wanted to destroy a man and I went out there trying to…..I didn’t want to knock him out. I just wanted to beat him for twelve rounds; I just wanted hurt him. I kept beating his ribs, beating his arms, trying to make him bleed and just slowly trying to kill this guy for twelve rounds, man. So I hit him and when I hurt him, I would let him recover and just continue to keep beating on him.
Good to hear from the champ but I would have liked to hear about the disputes with Satayovic and King. Are the brain damage rumours are correct or is Terry ok?
the build up to norris-vaden was def on point but the fight was such a disappointing DUD as vaden pretty much froze, listless, and over trained..whatever and norris won easy...but ive seen clips of terry talking within the last couple of years..that man definitely sounds like he took one too many punches to me
He has detoriated to the point where he sounds like he has marbles in his mouth, I would say he sounds like a combination of James Toney and Tommy Hearns. Good fighter, he let a shot Sugar Ray finish their fight, and didn't try to beat the hell out of him. Unlike Larry Holmes who-in my opinion should have eased up on Ali in his pre-swan song fight.
