So the answer would be a resounding "no" on both accounts then, huh?? :rofl:rofl:rofl

Consequently, the triumph to which you refer involves a significant degree of risk-aversion/avoidance.

Ummm.......did you not question Maidana's capacity to land on Khan?

    That would be a "yes."

In response, I asked when Khan morphed into such a defensive stalwart that he could reasonably be expected to avoid being tagged by Maidana at least once or twice in any proposed bout.

    This truly isn't rocket science.

    It's transference.

If Maidana had never met Ortiz (at the peak of his hype at the time) and inherited all his shine, you wouldn't hear nonsense like "Anybody who wants to be the best at 140 has to go through the following names (including MRM)."

I'll admit, against Cayo I was expecting more of a competitive war but Cayo's awkwardness worked against him with more of a straightforward textbook puncher. Maidana's good - he's just not great like he's been made out to be since the new Golden Boy golden boy quit against him (in a fight that was pretty darn close up to that point, which people seem to forget).

People saying "If Maidana landed on Khan, it'd be all over!" doesn't stake any greater or more convincing claim to him being great than it would for someone like, say Randall Bailey if they made the same statement about him. Lots of guys hit hard. Maidana doesn't have the heaviest hands ever. People are just high on him right now.

    Cheers!

And I already told you the reasoning. Agree/disagree, feel free to give reasons or counter arguments if you wish. As my argument does not rest on the need for a fighter to be a 'Whittaker-like' 'defensive stalwart' to avoid Maidana's punches your question is not relevant.

If your claim is that Maidana possesses some attribute that would require some world class defensive mastery to be able to avoid being tagged by him, then I think it's fair to say that you're seeing something that most others don't see, and should probably expand on what exactly that is.

Here's a thought, maybe just maybe Campbell chin has gotten better by moving up in lightweight and junior welterweight? I mean isn't that obvious ?

    Maybe it has.

But if Maidana with his 'great chin' was down three times in two rounds, Campbell's chin must have improved into super-titanium best chin in the world ever!

I notice you'll still didn't answer the question...

Ortiz beat Campbell up, but he did so cautiously. He wasn't sitting down on the same kind of bombs as he did in the first few rounds against Maidana (who he clearly underestimated as an opponent, which began all his troubles).

I think it's fair to say Maidana tasted more of the premium unfiltered version of Victor's power than Nate did.

Did you even watch Ortiz vs Campbell? Ortiz wasn't nailing the same hard landing shots on Campbell the way he did vs Maidana. Vs Maidana, Ortiz was landing big bombs looking for a homerun while vs Campbell, Ortiz was pop shotting almost like the way Mayweather does.

  12. Maidana's the flavor of the month because people hate Amir Khan with a passion. They want to see Khan get KTFO, and they think Maidana's the man to do it.

A bit like how people jumped on the Mosely bandwagon because they hoped he'd KO Mayweather.

If Khan beats Maidana, they'll instantly forget all about him, and move onto the next possible KO hope. "He's ducking Alexander." etc. etc.

Haha, well done, though kinda copying someone elses homework there.

Yes I did watch it and agree with what IntentionalButt wrote and you copied. I correctly figured that you hadn't clocked that and was playing with you though.

Are you going to answer the question?

I pretty much completely agree with you. I think the hype comes from his power. If he lands the big punch, he can possibly KO his opponent.
