Joe Frazier: I would've beat Marciano and Tyson no problem

I agree with Frazier but then i disagree with him

He won the 1st fight with ALI,No question but lost the other 2

Frazier wouldve destroyed Marciano and beaten Tyson as well in my opinion

 

What does it matter? Ali told his corner to cut off his gloves after the 14th. He wanted to quit. He only won because Futch stopped the fight before Ali could quit. Ali was not going to go out for round 15. Therefore, Frazier would've won by TKO had Futch allowed him to continue.

i agree with Regs descripition on the siuation but if Eddie had let Joe go out for the the last round I have to think Ali's pride would've made him get back up too.

Above all else that what made those two such great rivals , utter blind ( no pun intended devotion to victory over the other. )

It brings a tear to my eye watching 1 and 3. Incredible stuff.

I dont mean to be disrespectful to anyone but you have these guys on here going on about how All time Wlad Klitschko is and then you watch one of his fights and then you watch The Fight and you wonder if its even the same sport.

2. I give a **** less what Ali said, Dundee wasn't going to do cut his gloves off when the fight was swinging his way again and there was only a round to go. Ali wasn't likely going to go "****, I'll quit whether you cut the gloves off or not, *****!" Ali would've come out, imo. Just opinion but since neither of us know, I assume it's as valid as yours. I don't know how many people familiar with Ali really believe he wouldn't have come out for the final round.

3. It doesn't matter if Frazier wanted to continue or not, Futch had the good sense to keep him down when he couldn't avoid the punches and Futch was the man in charge of that corner. Moot point.

No, i think it's the opposite. I think Tyson's style perfectly suited beating the bigger, slower, more ungainly guys, much the same as Dempsey, Louis used to do very well against the bigger guys but had the most trouble against smaller fighters. Mike had a huge ammount of trouble against Holyfield who was a similar size to himself, at leat relative to his usual opponents. Mike's attributes were amplified against the big tall guys.

 

Maybe. But Ali did have trouble with swarmers and himself admitted in an interview that Marciano would have been his toughest fight of the old school guys, this coming from Ali who was very reticent to credit other fighters at the best of times. I would definately favor Ali but rock had a lot of intangibles and a very relentless style.

The Charles fight was very even for the most part, certainly until the last third.

 

I think you guys overrate marciano a bit much. He was great, but he never faced anyone close to Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Tyson, Lewis, Vitali, etc. He just wouldn't be competitive against these guys, in my humble opinion.

Please provide me with a souce for this. I call bull****. Every newspaper article I have read, Damato seemed scared to throw floyd in against Marciano until he noticed signs of Rocky Aging. If Damato was afraid to face the likes of C Williams, N Valdes, Machen, Folley...just imagone how scared he would have been of Marciano!

 

1. Please do not include Vitali with those legends. Vitali has never beat anyone close to what you call a "Very Good Fighter"

2. Marciano would compete with all those men, and beat some of them.

3. Marciano's record against hall of famers is 6-0 with 5 knockouts. I would say he is proven against elite competition.


I like Marciano over Frazier because Rocky had two fisted knockout power, compared to joe having only a left hook. In a ******* I favor 2 hands over 1.
