Joe Calzaghe had the most overrated speed attribute of ALL TIME

Looking back at Calzaghe's speed you actually see why he can throw 100 punches a round, its because he seldom turned his punches over or gave it any type of pop. If you not turning your punches over, and are hitting fighters with the front and back end of your gloves of course u can get more punches off, and have compu box going crazy. It's like he was just pawing punches, and everbody was so amazed by his speed, except American coaches who can't stand how he fights, u also never hear his name brought up in barber shops or fight scenes out here. The sad thing is he played it safe so it never got exposed, but he will be consider an ATG . Let the hate begin, bring it!!!

Don't get me wrong yea he was decently fast, but can u think of another person who's speed was more overrated than his?

 

it was kinda over rated in terms of the quality of the punches he landed but he was still fast

 

If what you say was true, it should have been pretty easy for an American coach to come up with a gameplan that worked against Calzaghe. Nobody thought Lacy was slow until he faced Joe. Sure, his punching technique sucked after his hands were damaged, but his combination of hand speed, stamina, chin and will to win was a tough one, even if his speed by itself wasn't that great.

Well, let's see...if his speed's overrated and he had no power, I suppose that explains why so many fighters beat him to the punch and walked through the punches/slaps he did land through the course of his career.

Joe also had problems with his hands throughout his career so if he did go all out putting heavy force into every punch, he'll keep breaking them. Then what?

He certainly Pimp-Slapped Lacy all around the ring.

Good Fighter. I just wish he had stepped it up a long time ago and fought Roy in his Prime. But, that's the way the boxing business works.

Mini Tyson?
Jeff Lacy?

Way overrated. Two things that looked like Tyson: He was African-American and he had muscles. About it.

I couldn't even believe the hype around him as being a SMW version of a peak Tyson. Lacy wasn't even good enough to be called Post-Prison Tyson.

But I do think it was a good win regardless. It was a savage beating from start to finish. But Lacy was just overrated. People were in need of a "star."


Roy Jones Jr: He had more in common with Tupac at that point.
