I'm not sure why David Haye is such a controversial figure on ESB. Sure, he talks a lot of stuff and may have faked a back injury and he even wore an ultraviolent t-shirt. But he has been good for the heavyweight division. My only problem with him is that he is not a serious fighter. I say this because his level of inactivity for a young fight who has not suffered any serious injuries is almost unprecedented.

Here are the numbers: 2004: 4 fights
    2005: 4 fights
    2006: 3 fights
    2007: 2 fights
    2008: 2 fights
    2009: 1 fight
    2010: 1 fight (so far)

As you can see, Haye used to be a fairly active fighter. But in my humble opinion, as soon as he started making money with his production company, boxing became a part-time job for him. Now, he is still a very talented fighter. But I just don't think he has the will or the motivation to become great.

My main problem with David is that he calls the Klitshckos out and then flat out refuses to fight them. He "beeched out" yet again!

i personally rate him, hes quick & powerful which makes for an exciting fighter.

i dont really get the whole "question marks over his stamina" comments tho, he punched himself out in one fight a long time ago & has never made the same mistake since.

He epitomises british culture, just a very rude, mouthy, generally unpleasant person, who talks a lot but has an inability to back his words with actions.

I dont really care if he is/was good entertainment, fresh air in HW (or whatever people see in him) He has turned out to be a fraud and a coward! It seems like he is only interested in making attention for himself, why the hell would he make all these confrontations with the Klits, the big talk about being the first ko both brothers, the other insults and the childish t-shirts he weared! But when it comes to making a fight with them, he backs out every time!
He cant beat the Klits, and he knows that! But atleast he should be man enough to stick to his words!

yeah even i as i british dude think david needs 2 man up and just make the fight happen

hw bxing cant b ruled by 2 bros who make hw look like cart horses compared to lower weight running dogs

in terms of him backing out

the back injury was most probably faked but he knew had he taken the fight he wuldnt have gotten paid much

most of his fans r british and for them to see the fight setanta sports was broadcasting it but u needed to pay for it

but setanta was going bust and owed alot of soccer teams money and went bust like 2 weeks after the haye- klitschko fight wulda been made so he wuldnt have got paid much

still, u dont calla guy out to his face and when he calls u out there is silence

"Silence is gold" - Haye knows it cuz he is noble and high-minded person. He is the man with rules.

    He's making Lewis look active.

I think a fighter should aim for fighting at least 4-5 times a year, assuming they can get decent opponents. And if they can't get the big name opponents, go ahead and fight the Davarryl Williamsons of the sport to stay active, sharp, and keep to keep your name and face out there.

Fighting twice a years is rediculous.......and only once a year is absolutely nonsensical for a pro athlete.
