I actually don't think that assumption isn't all that outrageous. Yeah Ali's resume is better, but as far as pure boxing skills are concerned, Ali has some serious flaws, it's just that he was able to get away with them. The fact that Ali almost never punched to the body stands out most for me.

There's a difference between saying, "I"m gonna prove I'm the best by beating the best" vs. "i'm comin to steal some mo paypuh...i'm a gorilla, i'm da greatest, i'm better than Ali & Robinson!"

In addition, you conveniently, left out the fact that he was outright disrespecting and minimizing one of Ali's greatest victories: Foreman.

Foreman was an Olympic Gold Medalist with a record of 40-0 with 37 KO's. He had just finished demolishing Joe Frazier in 3 rounds, another Olympic Gold Medalist that had given Ali his first loss and two of his toughest fights to date.

You are crazy to think Ali was a better boxer then Floyd. Ali Had no defense, nor did he ever through 1 punch to the body his whole career.

There is nothing wrong with thinking you are the greatest of your time but most boxer's and sportsmen in general have respect for the people that went before them.

Although in fairness to Floyd when he says he is the greatest ever i think he means in a head to head sense. I may be wrong but i don't think Floyd has ever claimed he is the greatest ever because of his resume.

I agree, but in Floyd's head he is the greatest in a head to head sense.

I would say though that in a p4p head to head list Floyd is much higher than in a resume list.
