Its amazing how Khans words are twisted ....hes always come across as a decent bloke to me and hes certainly doing his talking in the ring now ... I like the guy hes a top boxer and will get my support when he next fights in the UK ...

A lot of people are deceived by the media just to stir up tension and so the media can make money. Come on guys look at this way, Mitchell was really giving it mouth before kats fight saying "khan's been found out" etc..but after the fight khan had good words to say about him so whhy would he all of a sudden turn on Hatton who he actually gets on with. It's just common sense guys.

Yes it is, quotes should be used to indicate when somebody has actually spoken those words. Any gaps should contain "......" to tell the reader they are not complete quotes.

Just because some people don't think its needed or correct doesn't mean that it isn't.

I love the use of the exclamation mark, really puts emphasis on how out of context the quote is.

 

UTW used speechmarks. Quotation marks can be, and are, used for paraphrasing and are regularly used by tabloids when they try to sensationalise relatively benign statements. He could have got away with using quotation marks in this instance.

I'm not going to get embroiled into an English lesson and tutorial on ESB, though. I was just pointing out that paraphrasing is common.

 

Tabloid usage does not mean correct usage. Hes got speech in quotation marks that wasn't actually spoken ,which I guess is fine if you picked your writing and comprehension skills up reading tabloids.
