Technically yea... Floyd is not only smart but extremely charming...:D He bascially had a binding contract revised to allow him to take only a $600K loss vs a $20 Million loss by loosing the fight on failing to meet the "original" contracted fight terms to the battle with his weight. I think that's what Floyd said he got paid for his dominant win over JMM at 146.:think

My point was that for months people were speculating on what weight the match would be contested at, with threads here on ESB like "What weight is Mayweather/Marquez at?" and "Does anyone know the weight for Mayweather/Marquez?", and no one seemed to know the answer, which seemed strange to me.

Well, we got the answer....the day before the match. The answer was that no one, not The Nevada State Atheletic Commission, The MGM Grand, the fans, the sports news media, or even Marquez, knew what weight the match would be at because Mayweather hadn't signed the contract....and he wouldn't until the day before the match....and even then Marquez had to sign another, revised to favor Mayweather, version of the contract after he had trained to box under the conditions stipulated in the original contract....which he had signed in timely fashion per NSAC guidelines.

I don't understand how something like that could be allowed to happen.

With the news that Pac agreed to the 14 day offer by Floyd, this topic is again relevant.

Pac already agreed to the test though. :D

They just couldn't decide on the cut off.

Pac, if reports are true, has just agreed to Floyd's cut off date. My feeling is that Floyd, just like how he ducked the Winky fight, will change his tune on the money split and hope Pac will also go away. :D

Doubtful. Although he does have a small claim at asking for more money but I hope he doesn't.

But serious question, why is 14 days okay now?

Speaking of Winky Wright he's just announced he's willing to accept the 45/55 Mayweather offered about 5 years ago.

I wonder what Mayweather's excuse for backing out of the deal will be now?

Winky doesn't deserve close to 45 for fighting Mayweather, or Pac, or anyone with a name.

but...do you think Floyd will stick to his last proposal or ask for additional concession from Pac's side?

14 days are ok now, because there havn't even been formal negotiations

i'm sure he heard pbf after the mosley fight say he won't negotiate the testing now that someone has done it without a cut-off (and NY and LV are looking into updating their testing)

i believe he is just trying to save face

but i would like to see the fight, so whatever

People makes it seem like Floyd is afraid of Pac. I'm just glad that Pac agreed to the testing, now we can see the difference between a great boxer against a great brawler.
