you dont have a proper understanding of the boxing scene in ireland so i'm not gonna give you **** for that.
Lee vs Barker with a solid undercard would sell very well in Dublin. The O2 was packed for Bernard Dunne's fights against Pikering,Jailuov all the way up to Poonswatt.A lot of them fans would go to a big Lee fight with a decent undercard. Lee gets a massive following from the Limerick/munster sporting fraternity. I could see a lee V barker fight easily sell 10,000 tickets.

I dont think Barker himself would duck lee, but maybe his magement and promotional team would look elsewhere at this stage.

Mate, at this stage you are talking absolute shite.

Dunne had a world strap. Dunne stated he would be happy to fight Munroe in Dublin (again 10,000 fans).Munroe was offered a career high of 100,000 to fight Dunne in Dublin. Maloney and Munroe didnt want to know.

Dunne went on to face a top 2 or 3 fighter in the division.

    Who was ducking who?

Why would Dunne fear munroe? Munroe cant bang, Dunne was a better boxer.

I couldn't care if he got the shot the fact the french fella was in the fight in the first place downgrades the Euro belt for me which is fast becoming a **** take.

For you to say Lee needs to fight high ranking Euro fighters to force Barker is a bit rich seeing as Barker basically done nothing to get the shot.

Rob, you have no understanding at all of the popularity of sport in Munster, in ireland. The importance of boxing in ireland for that matter and the popularity of Andy lee in Limerick.
He was fighting in front of 2500, because he wanted to fight in front of a home crowd. No other venue in limerick, apart from thomond and he wasnt gonna get 26,000 against Thiam. I reckon a properly promoted Lee fight would get 15,000 in limerick(thomond) and 10,000 in the 02

Lads I think we are getting a bit carried away with the kind of numbers Lee would bring for a Euro title in Limerick.

Firstly, comparisons to Dunne may be skewed because we all know Dunne is a Dub through and through, he had massive support in the Point because he is a local lad. The vast majority of the casual fans that went to see him were from Dublin, Limerick has a population 10x smaller than Dublin. Not as many people will travel from all corners of Ireland to see a Euro title. World title, you'd get a significant amount into Thomond Park (Ireland is crying out for a main man again) but for a Euro, I think 5000-6000 (which isn't enough for a stadium that size).

If it was on in the O2 in Dublin, you may fill it out, casual Dub fans would go see it there but they wouldn't travel to Limerick.

He still draws way bigger numbers than Barker imo but I think we are getting a little carried away.

I agree but I dont think you guys recognise Barker is a draw as well and now that Mitchell has lost he is the number 1 boxer in the Capital.

Both are big ticket sellers. If Lee really wants the title he should be prepared to come to London, which I dont think he is. If his team puts in a good offer to Barker and they can get UK tv, he will go to Ireland and you will get 500-1000 fans following him over there.

at the moment Proska is the mandatory for Barker so he has to get through that first. thats a step up and would be the best opponent either would face. Lets see Lee step it up in his next fight to.

In the East Side rankings i run I have Barker 15 in the world at Middleweight. Lee is unranked.

Paddy came on and complained saying it should be Andy Lee or Manfredo???

i gave 5 reasons why Barker should be ranked ahead of Andy Lee which were all to do with Barkers achievements, not downplaying Lee. If you can come up with 6 reasons why Andy Lee should be ranked ahead of Barker post them in the rankings thread and I will set up a vote for who should be 15.

Post them on the rankings page link posted above.

    26,000..........AHAHAHAHAHAHA

Boxing is a massive sport in the Capital and after Mitchell lost last week Barker is the number 1 fighter here. He is a decent ticket seller himself.

if he really could do those numbers in Ireland, surely a promoter would have already secured him a european or world title fight already. thats what happens with fighters that draw tickets. thats a £1million get your talking about and his promoters cant get him a title fight.

theres no chance Lee would be fighting in his hometown venue doing 2500 if there was any chance he could do 5000 in another venue in Ireland. if that is the case his promotional team need sacking.
