i have him in the same class as roach, steward, richardson etc his corner advice is good, not exactly nazim richardson in the corner but makes it clear what he wants, has good gameplans, does very well with boxer-puncher types. he just hasn't had a super star boxer to get his name up there but has trained many great fighters.
diaz had just gotten rocked in the prior round, i think he knows his fighter better than any of us the mans worked with great names such as pernell whitaker and evander holyfield.
"Lennox, have you ever heard of a trainer to tell you to take a round off when you were down or losing." "No, usually you get a trainer that tells you to take a round off if you're ahead comfortable or finding your way in a groove. Not when you're losing a fight."
He is actaully a very good trainer but i wouldnt put him in the same class as roger, roach or richardson.
Richardson doesn't belong in the same class as Roach or Steward, getting way too much credit for Shane whooping Margo.
he seemed like a pretty damn good trainer until i heard that advice he gave juan diaz in the rematch of the malignaggi fight. "take a round off juan".
