Manny Pacquiao Agrees to 14-Day – Floyd is Cornered Again

    Opinion by Boxing Insider
(2 Hours Ago) in Sports / Manny Pacquiao
Manny Pacquiao has agreed to random blood tests up to 14 days before a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather – the crucial compromise the undefeated American demanded but did not get this past February, which effectively canceled the “Super Bowl of Boxing” clash of titans from taking place on March 13. Many boxing insiders are convinced Mayweather demanded the extra testing above and beyond what is required according to the Nevada State Commission, as a scheme designed to cancel the highly risky though lucrative duel with Pacquiao because he secretly fears being brutally beaten up and knocked out by the Filippino marvel.
Pacquiao has made the compromise in an interview he gave to the Manila Bulletin late Wednesday evening in Makata. “As long as they’re not getting a large amount of blood I am willing to give out blood as close to two weeks before the fight,” Pacquiao told the Manila Bulletin.
Now Mayweather has the terms he claimed he wanted earlier this year. The money figures guaranteed for both combatants are going to be colossal…so this fight should be arranged with ease, right?
If Mayweather truly wants the fight and believes in his heart of hearts he can win, yes.
But still there remains great doubt. The ominous quote made on December 2, 2009 by a well-connected insider who has ties to the Mayweather camp still rings in my ears: “The fight is going to happen. Some fights aren’t meant to be made.”
We’ll wait and watch to see if Floyd steps up to the plate. Or if he shows himself to be what many suspect – a fraud masquerading himself to be the best, but who only handpicks slow, old or faded opponents he knows he can beat. Not so fast.

So the person who's ok with 14 day cut-off is an idiot then, right?

It's up to Floyd to agree on the 14 day window. Either way is fine by me. If he is adamant about no cutoff date, I don't want to hear any crying. Team Pac had their chance. Shane didn't get a cutoff date and he went through with the process just fine. A handful of other boxers have stated or suggested they would have no problem taking the random tests w/o a cutoff date. Manny has no negotiation leverage other than the lawsuit which doesn't provide any substantial firepower. If I'm Pac I'd gladly make a few sacrifices in order to get my hands on Floyd inside the ring.

Whoever wrote that article is either trying to drum up hype in a ******ed way, or just dislikes Floyd.

Why is he offering 14 days? FMJ has REPEATEDLY gone in the public and said USADA testing. He played Pac's game before and Pac bailed. Why play his game again?

This **** again? Nothing has changed people, next thing we are going to hear is Manny didn't understand the question and that nothing has changed, or Arum and company are going to sucker Mayweather in with 14 days then say, well we will do 14 days only if a commission demands it, then we will do it. but it has to be in Texas and we get to pick the judges and your corner. Also, no drinking water, only rams ****.

Oh really. Please explain how anyone would benefit from a week worth of epo or whatever crap is only detectable in blood. I think people have this warped logic that Pacquiao will suddenly start loading up on drugs as soon as the 14 days hit. Never mind that urine tests is still on going, and never mind that intense training stops a week before the fight.

Let's get ready to see a fight. I can care less what Mayweather accepts.

Look man I am glad to see the fight regardless. I still recognize that Pac is a lying manipulative sack. You can't tell the USADA when the cut off is. It just is not possible. So to say it in the press like you are putting out an olive branch is silly.

That is like a guy telling police, "OK I will let you search my house after next Thursday." Knowing damn well they are processing a warrant for today. The ball is not in your court to say so to say it is pointless.
