Wanderlei was a monster at his prime. He would batter Silva.

The biggest advantage anderson has got now is that people are legitimately scared of him before they get in the cage. against this wanderlei he wouldnt have that luxury.
In fact wand was the guy people were scared of back then. I picked wand cause i think hed be a little too rugged for anderson. Now would be a different story though.

Technical counter striker vs super aggressive wild bomber

    I'm inclined to choose Anderson.

Wand was crazy, though. Can't count him out completely.

Wanderlei, his pace & ability to take shots in order to seek & destroy opponents is scary... Anderson likes a more measured pace where his greater technique can win fights but he wont have that luxury vs a prime Wanderlei.... these reasons are similar as to why I choose Shogun over Anderson.

Ps. I could easily be wrong tho, Anderson is an awesome fighter & just because we havent seen him tested fully in a fast paced fight doesnt exactly mean he would fold under the pressure, he might rise to it.

    :good

My initail incling is towards a counterpunch KO for Anderson but Wandy was a monster back in the day the pressure would be intense.

Dude was scary but Silva loves it when they come to him all reckless. Silva will get surgical.

To be a "hugger" for a moment, you are the best MMA poster on this site Bill. Every post is interesting and insightful, and usually bang on the money. I read posts you wrote a while back, and see how they have been proven true. You are the Sweet Pea/Lora of the MMA forum!

Pity about your opinions on boxing... :D

It would be a hell of a match up. I think Anderson's counterpunching style would be well suited here but Wanderlei is not an idiot and there is more to his game than running forward windmilling his arms around, this is not just an upgraded version of Chris Leben we're talking about, Wanderlei is one of the deadliest strikers in MMA history.

Wandy was always wild and easy to hit, even in his prime. I see a fight with Anderson going a lot like Belfort/Wand.

Anderson would totally pick him apart piece by piece before knocking him the **** out brutally. Anderson has seen this style in sparring so no matter which verison of Wanderlei he ever fought he would be very phyiscally and mentally prepared for that pyscho like style that Wanderlei has. Anderson's movement and pinpoint accuracy would be way to much for Wanderlei. Wanderlei has never truely beat a striker on the level of an Anderson Silva or even a fighter or his level.

Wand has way too many nuthuggers.

Anderson of 2008 would knock out any version of Wand.

Anderson is too tough, too skilled and hits too hard for Wand.
