The main reason Tim Bradley and Devon Alexander should fight this year

    The main reason that Tim Bradley vs Devon Alexander should fight this year is that it makes the winner a legitimate opponent for the winner of Mayweather vs Pacquiao early next year.

    The excuse for not making the fight at the moment is that it can be a bigger fight down the line. This may be true, but the amount of money each fighter, promoter and HBO can make out of Alexander vs Braldey, is a quater at best of the amount they could make if one of them fights the Pacquiao vs Mayweather winner.

    1) The fight would be for the RING Light Welterweight title, and the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight would be for the RING Welterweight title. 2 Lineal champions going agaisnt eachother at close weights makes it a credible fight for Mayweather or Pacquiao
    2) Pacquiao could still come down to 140lbs or catch weight, and Bradley and Alexander would be comfortable at 147lbs
    3) The winner of a Alexander vs Bradley would be a top 5 P4P fighter. This would again make them credible.
    4) If Alexander or Bradley were at least competative with Manny or Floyd, they would become a big star. If they win they are the new PPV attraction for HBO in the US and theres a number of decent fights they could make between 140lbs and 154lbs.

    Dude, nobody is going to pay money to watch Tim Bradley get brutalised by Mayweather or Pacquaio, that guy isn't a PPV calibre fighter and he will never get a fight with them.

    but if he beats Alexander and is an undefeated, american lineal champion at the weight division closest, surley he is??

    It needs to happen, I got Bradley by comfortable decision. However with all these latest news it feels like Bradley is stalling the Alexander fight and hoping a Pac or PBF fight is handed down to him.

    Bradley certainly is in a position to ask for a megafight but he is not in a position to demand it. Fight Alexander and make it no question who the man at 140 is then all the money will come its way.

    What if pac retires like he keeps saying. For that matter what if they both retire. Then they fight each other w/ no bigger fights to look forward to.

    People paid in their droves to see Pacquiao beat up Clottey, after all.

    Yes but I think the issue is while there is money and options for the winner, there won't be much money for the fight itself. And the fight is a pickem in my opinion.

    The loser would be high-risk/low-reward for anybody else, and I think would be avoided by Golden Boy, so could be frozen out of the division. It's a massive risk to take.

    Would you risk it if you were Bradley at the moment? He's gotten himself to the top of the division, and if he bides his time he will get a decent payday anyway.
