Usually the comment section on youtube is without intelligent posters but i liked this one 3 months ago Idk what a truer fighter means but boxing is more of a classy sport to me.. in highschool some MMA dude was talkin **** to an amateur boxer at a party when they threw up they're hands he came into grab and got knocked out cold by a kid that weighed like 50 pounds less than him. if a MMA fighter cant hurt the boxer with leg kicks and can't grab him hes gonna get caught. I love how dana white says boxers couldnt hang but football players come in and dominate. Favorite sentence is the last one about football players. But to be serious I think the best cage fighters Silva Liddell Jackson so on beat the best boxers in the cage 9 out of 10 times different sport different animals its like if a basebal player tries to be a football player or a basketball player thinks he can be a trackstar Where as I also beleive if the legends of MMa get in the ring they lose to a boxer 9 of 10 Gracie who never punched in MMA would be ****ed in all punching boxing I feel boxers can win in MMA soley on punch and chin. Mercer Sylvia-Mercer beat reigning defending champ Sylvia out early. Boxers know how to box if they utilize this they can win. If they dont get leg kicked taken down elbowed kicked in the head its any mans game. Once the MMA guy does what the boxer is not trained at he will win most of the time
Just so you kn ow Sylvia wasnt the reigning champ he lost in ufc got dropped. Went to affliction got KO'd in around 30-40 seconds (i forget exact time) and then released again. Packed on a bunch of weight in the 300's i believe and fought mercer. Neither men are relevant in any sport. Kimbo came off the street and choked mercer out in under a minute.
I meant to say a reigning and defending champ not the current. And the Kimbo fight proves a bum in MMA can get a good boxer on the ground and choke him. If a boxer can avoid holds kicks and elbows they can win.
joe rogan's argument on why MMA is better than boxing is that MMA is more like real fighting because it isn't limited. the limitations are what makes it beautiful. there's no way you can say MMA is more graceful than fencing because fencing has limitations.
The best i recently heard was on the new Iron-man movie. Tony's Driver/Training partner (also the director of both iron man Films) gets hit with an elbow and he says "what the hell was that" to which Tony replies "Mixed Martial arts its been around about 3 weeks" then favreau replies "its called dirty boxing, its been around forever" the more real argument is pointless because in a real fight i'd bite a chunk out of your arm, gouge your eyeballs out, and if all else fails attempt to dismember you by taking you genitalia off. but its not supposed to be a street fight so pretending it is is pointless. its the formality the grace, the art and the history that makes it a sport and a beautiful thing to watch. i've been in a fair share of fights and the only ones that have ended up on the ground were ones with friends i didnt want to actually hurt. in all other cases it was usually a matter of keeping a little distance and as the old saying goes "letting my fist do the talking"

MMA is probably a bit more like real fighting, but not much. I've never seen to men in a street fight rolling around on the concrete.

No sure that's valid. Fighting is fighting. Attacking someone with a weapon is something else entirely.
