One of Fedor's left hooks would send Lewis in to LALA land

People always bring up the Silvia vs Mercer fight, which Silvia was idiotic enough to stand up with him, and so got KOed very quickly. :!:

Let's not forget about Kimbo Slice vs Mercer, when Kimbo simply rushed Mercer and took him down and submitted him easily early in the first round. Kimbo had (and still has) basicaly no grappling skills.

The point is, NO WAY IN HELL can ANY MMA fighter stand there and try to fight with fists only against a decent -> good boxer. There's just no scenario I can imagine that they would stand a chance, except of course some lucky punch out of the blue - but damn, it's so unlikely.

By the same token, if a boxer gets in a cage with a decent -> good MMA fighter (and NO, Kimbo is not one of them), the MMA fighter will take him down, rip his arm off, and beat him with it.

These are two different sports entirely. Period.

You see MMA fighters standing there in front of each other throwing haymakers at each other and think, "oh, a boxer would crush these guys" - but keep in mind that the MMA fighters are only standing there because of the level of their competition's striking ability.

Can a pro boxer beat a Judo master in a Judo competition? Of course not, different sports. A football player isn't going to dominate a rugby match, and a tennis player isn't going to win a table tennis match. Etc, etc, etc.

James Toney is going to be stepping into the cage against old man Randy Couture, and it's going to be a sad sight..

remember when butterbean knocked the **** out of that WWF guy in like 30 seconds.

And when 50 year old Larry Holmes boxed the **** out of butterbean.

Yeah Lennox would stop him in one round, easy in boxing rules, no doubt at all. He wouldnt have to worry about being tired, it would be over in a minute, it would be childs play.

To be fair, Maia is a serious Jiu-Jitsu player and grappler, which isn't the same as someone who comes from a strictly wrestling background. The thing Maia does not have is any serious level of striking, and against someone like Silva, who is also Jiu-Jitsu black belt, on top of being a lethal striker, he had no chance.

For me the difference is that if some like Wladimir Klitschko went into the UFC tomorrow and fought Lesnar he would actually have some (albeit very slim) chance of winning because if he gets his punches off and lands before Lesnar takes him down then the fight is over.

If, on the other hand Lesnar went into boxing and got into the ring with Wlad he would have absolutely zero chance of winning, probably no chance of making it out of the first round in fact.

Now I'm not slagging off MMA or anything (two different sports, boxer wins at boxing, MMA guy wins at MMA and all that) but thats just how I see it. Although I suppose a pure boxer having a chance against a wrestler/MMA trained fighter is part of the whole point and appeal of MMA.

    i've seen him fight

and he wold take a few lewis jabs (flush) to the face and a nice overhand right to ***** street before he even got off

i'm not taking anything away from fedor as he is a hell of a fighter, and miles above other MMA fighters with his hands, but he is not on the same skill level as an elite boxer (with his hands)

Lennox Lewis destroys that spindly-legged former wrestler.
