Kim has no defense whatsoever, put him in with a fighter with defense and sharp countering and he gets a boxing lesson, defense and power, and he's most likely getting knocked out. But he's exciting as hell and can punch so you can't rule nothing out, but he's got awful lot of work to do.

He's a 130 pound Kelly Pavlik with more power at his weight. Nothing wrong with that at all. The champs in the division don't look all that great, so winning a title isn't all that unlikely in the near future. Guy is exciting for sure.

 

Im not a really a Pavlik fan but hes got better skills than Kim, only thing they have in common is both are good punchers. I think anyone with solid boxing skills and a good chin can beat him. I hear he might fight Miguel Acosta for the vacant title if he does i think Acosta beats him. Kim is exciting but looks limited, i would like to see him and Antonio Demarco, that would be a helluva a fight.

 

The fight with Demarco at 135 ??? I'm not sure Demarco can make 130

 

I like Kim, he reminds me of a 130lb G.Johnson (not the best but gives his best).

But at lightweight, I don't see Kim getting a major "title". I don't even think he can ko anyone of the top guys either. I think it would be a feel good story if he did get a belt, which I wouldn't mind seeing, but unless he learns some defence quick, then he wont be a belt holder anytime soon.

Bring on Maidana vs Kim. I bet that would be fun for as long as it lasted.

Kim doesnt look big enough for Maidana. I dont think Kim should move up those guys at JW would kill him. I dont see to many similarities between Kim and Glen johnson.

 

You're probably right with Kim probably being too small for Maidana.

And when I compared kim to johnson, I strictly meant, a guy that isn't the best but always gives his best, maybe not the best comparison but it was the first that jumped in my head for some reason.

 

Great TV fighter, but if he winds up a champion it will be a case of overachieving (and yeah, maybe a weak division but you can't knock a guy for taking the opportunities available to him).

 

Agreed...exciting as hell to watch but Kim is definitely flawed technically. His fight yesterday was actually an IBF Lightweight title eliminator.

Guzman is thirty-one flavors of wrong for Kim. What an ugly beating that would (will?) be.

 

Nah...Guzman's fight with Ali Funeka was actually for the same vacant belt but since he was overweight he didn't receive it.

Man that belt has been vacant ever since Nate Campbell lost it on the scales last year. atsch
