The difference in an 18-Day Guaranteed Cutoff and an 18-Day Random Cutoff...

I normally don't make Pac-Mayweather threads, because God knows we could do without another one... But I just can't resist this one. There are people here who seem to think that because the USADA randomly cut off testing 18 days prior to the Floyd-Shane fight, then Floyd should have no problems agreeing to 14 Days as a cutoff for testing in a fight with Pac.

It baffles me how someone could fail to see the difference. It seems as though many people are arguing this for the sake of doing anything possible to discredit Floyd and the testing demands. People just can't be that void of analytical capabilities. Whether you believe he is genuinely trying to clean up the sport or not, there are some differences in an 18-day Agreed Cutoff and an 18-Day Random Cutoff that just can't be confused by any rational, reasonably intelligent person:

18-Day Agreed Cutoff
This means that prior to training, bith camps know that they will not be required to give blood for tests after a cutoff date that is 18 days from the fight. This means that they are given an 18-day window of opportunity where they are guaranteed they will not be tested.

18-Day Random Cutoff
If there is no agreed cutoff, and the USADA happens to randomly cut off testing at 18 days, neither fighter will have any clue as to when they will be require to give blood up until the day of the test. They are kept completely unaware up until the day of the fight if USADA will be requiring them to give blood. They can ask 30, 20, 17, then 3 days out, or they can ask 28, 23, and then 20 days out. They may not be tested after 20 Days out, but they will be given no guarantees, which creates the window of opportunity to use banned substances free of any consequence.



Is the difference so hard to understand? Seriously, I'm not condeming Pac, or asking anyone to buy into this Floyd Crusade to clean up boxing. But don't try to insult everyone's intelligence by saying that what happened with Shane and Floyd is the equivalent of an 18-Day Guaranteed Cutoff.

The difference is clear to me.

What I find suspicious is that the USADA randomly decided to cut off blood testing for almost 3 weeks prior to May 1st after all their talk of "having too big a window" will allow someone to cheat. Seems to me they aren't too confident of their claims that the amount of blood taken for the tests won't weaken you.

When I first saw this thread I thought "Hell no, he's out to get Pac" but yeah you're right, that's fair enough. There is a difference.

doesn't matter at this point. 14 days cut-off or not, Pac is not gonna start taking HGH 14 days from the fight, then stop 3 or 4 days before the fight because of the post fight blood test. Pac is clean, just come to terms with it. Yes, he is that good.

I understand that you think there's no reason for him to not want a blood test too close to the fight if he's clean, but you're wrong.

It's not a matter of anyone coming to terms with him being good. I never really thought he was on anything. I think his success has more to do with his careful, timely matchmaking than any illegal substances. But that call isn't for me to make. It's ultimately up to the guys who are going to fight.

An 18-day agreed cutoff gives a fighter a window of opportunity, while an 18-day random cutoff gives no window, as the fighters have no idea that they are done giving samples at that point.:good
