Who knows? Unlike Haye, Briggs is not smart enough, not young enough and not marketable enough to talk himself into a title. Apparently, he still has fans...though I've never met one.

He must be gettting things mixed up with the time when Jorge Luis Gonzalez slapped him in a hotel foyer.

Wlad didn't "give Rahman a shot". The mandatory contender Povetkin claimed an injury and pulled out on two weeks notice. Wlad informed the IBF and the IBF ordered their #1 ranked contender Rahman as a replacement mandatory challenger for the title.

Therefore Rahman was a mandatory for Wlad to fight, not a guy he hand picked.

People here have little respect for obvious lazy a** boxers who trash talks too much with little current achievements to back it up. Briggs is one of them.

Now he goes on a campaign beating up a bunch of unranked nobodies for $500 a fight and thinks he can run his mouth? Please.

You're right, Povetkin was ranked as the IBF's #1 contender.

    http://www.klitschkoblog.com/2008/10/ibf-heavyweight-rankings-september-2008.html

    IBF Rankings Oct 2008

    CHAMPION Wladimir Klitschko Ukraine

    1 Alexander Povetkin Russian Federation
    2 NOT RATED
    3 Alexander Dimitrenko Ukraine
    4 Hasim Rahman United States

Rahman was the next highest ranked AVAILABLE contender, Dimitrenko was unavailable as he just fought Krasniqi two weeks prior. The point stands though: Wlad didn't handpick Rahman himself, the IBF picked the next best available guy who happened to be Rahman who was declared mandatory for Wlad.

Here's the text from the IBF press release: "Mr. Povetkin will remain in the No. 1 position in the heavyweight rankings. As Wladimir Klitschko has elected to fight the next leading available contender to complete his mandatory, Mr. Povetkin will be designated the next mandatory for the winner of the bout between Wladimir Klitschko vs. Hasim Rahman."

It is out right rediculous to say Briggs hasn`t done anything, how many guys can say they were the linear champ? and lets not forget 3 years ago he was WBO champ.

I'm sorry, being a paper champ 10 years ago doesn't give you bragging rights to trash talk current champs today without getting laughed at.

Wanna trash talk? Beat ranked contenders, get yourself a mandatory shot.

Since when is the linear champ a paper champ? Klitschko dodged Briggs in November of 2006.

This. I can't see how the Heavyweight World Champion would be afraid of a weezing, old, overweight, never was, like Shannon Briggs.

Clearly I think Shannon needs to pull the race card out again as he's done in the past........................ :rofl
