I have being going though a load of junk today and bumped into a couple of boxes of 92 to 97 boxing mags... The first mag I have read is May 93's KO, where using foresight, Steve Farehood picked the then 84-0 (69) Chavez's path to 100 and 0: Feb 20 1993: Greg Haugen WU12 April 10 1993: Eric Podolak KO4 May 15 1993: Marco Antonio Lizzarraga KO8 July 24 1993: Frankie Randall KO6 September 11 1993: Roland Cummings KO5 November 19 1993: Pernell Whitaker WS12 January 25 1994: Miguel Santana KO7 May 5 1994: Yori Boy Campas KO11 September 7 1994: Glenwood Brown WU10 December 15 1994: Clarence Coleman KO2 March 19 1995: Felix Trinidad KO9 May 30 1995: Gernaro Leon KO8 July 2 1995: Kevin Pompey KO5 August 10 1995: Hector Vilte KO3 September 23 1995: Vince Phillips KO10 January 6 1996: Kostya Tszyu WM12 Sadly fight 101 goes: KO by 9 Terry Norris in April 1996....
I guess he just thought Chavez could never age. :conf What is interesting is that he basically predicted what fighters would enter the limelight and around what time.
How would history have been difrent if Frankie Randall beat Jullio Ceaser Chavez before Whitaker got to him.
Reading the article, he made mention of Chavez slipping, and the Whitaker fight being controversial: Lou Duva calling it "RamirezI all over again..." Although he figured Trinidad to be world class, he did underestimate his future impact. The fighters he really hyped were Campos and Tszyu... Norris was starting to get a bit of grief for bullying by the time the article came out, although he was rated #2 in the Dynamite Dozen (Jan 14 1993), ahead of Sweet Pea.
