^As Alcaldemb said, if you are going to account for inflation then it will definitely be some of the older fights. Demspey and Ali would top my list.

Dempsey was making pig paydays back in the 1920s and 1930s, plus had endorsements, books, etc.

Obviously Ali had the massive fights as well, with all kinds of endorsements.
If we are talking about recent fighters, I would definitely say Foreman due to his Grill. ODLH is worth roughly 200 mil right now, but he has obviously made more money than that. The most important thing is that GBP will be making him money for the rest of his life, so I'd say he will easily be the boxer to make the most $$ when its all said and done.

Other interesting things to discuss here: Who's the biggest boxing moneymaker not born in the USA? (Lewis is probably the answer, altough Manny may top him in the near fututre), what's the biggest boxing fortune made outside USA rings? (I guess it's the Klits, particularly Wlad, but I may be wrong)

No, not by far. Oscar's career earnings come in at something like 650 million, Dempsey's earnings, adjusted for inflation, come in at over 4 billion.

    WHAT?
I don't know that inflation calculator you are using but 1927 $13 mil adjusted for 2009 inflation is about $ 160 MILLION.

I was using the figures based on the inflation adjusted net worth of Rockefeller.

Why would you do that? Dempsey was no where near Rockefeller in regards to wealth. In fact, no one in the ENTIRE American history is/was wealthier than JDR. He is worth about $600 BILLION in 2009 money.

I didn't use his net worth, I divided his adjusted net worth by his actual net worth and then multiplied Dempsey's career earnings by the result. I didn't even use the 600 billion dollar figure, but the lower end 330 billion dollar figure.

He get a cut from Mayweather for his next three fights also. I think he signed a 5 fight deal with GBP.

Don't forget that Dempsey retired right before the Great Depression. Many people - many rich people in fact - lost everything in the giant economic downturn and 80% stock market crash.

It wasn't easy to earn a 6-10% return on investments from 1929-1939. Most investors were happy if they didn't lose too much. Many people committed suicide as they were bankrupted.

I don't know about Dempsey specifically, this is just a general note. I think you'll get closer to a fair figure if you use 3% for inflation adjustment rather than a 6% figure for a hypothetical investment return right before the biggest economic depression in history.
