The hand alignment principle would still apply. If you're standing with your left hand forward vs a southpaw your lead hands would still be aligned with one another. Same **** for the southpaw. Cotto was able to use his jab fine, but he got lured into a brawl.

The reporter implied that Manny's jab will be weak vs Mayweather, to which Roach replied the jab don't matter. Here you are saying, but Cotto's jab was fine... non sequitur much?

While the shoulder roll or philly shell dose leave one open to the stright hand of a southpaw. Keep in mind that all boxing stances are best aganist orthdox boxers.
The philly shell also makes it easier to throw and land the stright right and left hook. The two punches that are best for fighting a southpaw.
The philly shell can be deciving making the user look more open than they realy are.
Mayweather did pretty well against Judah who is a fast southpaw.
Mayweather dose not use the philly shell exclusively. He also fights with a triditional high guard.
Pacquiao will still have to make up for 5" in reach. He will have to come at one of the best counter punchers ever in Mayweather.
In terms of making money it is a great fight for Pacquiao. In terms of winning, it is not the right fight for Pacquiao.

Floyd might not even fight defensive like he sometimes does. I think that Floyd's will stand with him like he did Mosley and the lead right hand is going to cause trouble for Pac Man

First of all- can we please stop calling the shoulder roll defence- "The Philly Shell"!!?! this was a term that fight night came up with- it has no origins in actual boxing gyms being referred to as such. EA made it up - it couldve as easily been called the Detroit Roll, or the Motor City Cover,
but its not a ****in boxing term!- EA made it up - and now all these cats are using the freakin term- and misappopriating the boxing culture . Take those words to Floyd or Toney- and he ll say "what the **** are you talking about??"

Please Please Please stop calling it the philly shell- we dont name our moves after video games here. you might as well start calling the straight a "Harduken". Or a left hook the "Sonic Boom". Its just as credible.

Void wants the referee to test Pac between rounds now. Also, he wants Pac to use 24 oz. gloves!

Clottey looked like a middleweight compared to Pac that night. Of course you will get tagged like that if you give your opponent to land something so he can open up.

Do you not understand roach cited hand lead hand alignment for why the jab wouldn't work? Using the same logic Cotto's jab shouldn't have worked since him being an orthodox fighter means his lead hand lines up with emmanuel's lead. Just because Roach's southpaw doesn't know how to use the jab like that doesn't mean it's written in stone that people can't use the jab effectively on opponents in the opposite stance. Whitaker was a southpaw who really knew how to jab.

Not really Floyd fights the same, he didn't use his legs that much and fought toe to toe, he fought Mosley in a similar except he used his speed more and he didn't get into many exchanges after the 2nd round. As for Manny, he definitely fights differently.
