It was probably assumed to be higher risk than he wanted to take.

He beat him fairly convincingly first time around so probably didn't see too much point.

He gave away a lot of rounds and got a split decision. His own father said Oscar won.

Yeah that's when they weren't getting along, I'll bet if you ask him now he'll say Floyd won.

They were going to make it happen but when they got to the negotiations table and Floyd's people said they wanted the lion's share, DLH's people instantly left.

He wanted too, but Arum(dlh's promoter at the time) didn't want to because there was no money to be made, the first fight wasnt exciting enough to sell a rematch, and DLH was already scheduled and signed to fight 3 fights after Sweet Pea. Whitaker didn't want to wait and decided move on himself.

Should never have been a split decision. The crowd and the fact it was oscar made that a split decision.

Oscar's jab and Floyd's tentativeness made it a split decision. Floyd gave away too many rounds. I'll say it again, Floyd gave away too many rounds. He went to Oscar's division, for Oscar's belt, when the champion was the more popular fighter and he gave away too many rounds. The decision could've gone either way, it went his way. And it was when Senior and Junior were on the outs, but if you look at the way he answered it, I think he was being honest. He hesitated, then he said something like "If you go by the points system, Oscar won more rounds." He said that because Floyd was the better boxer who was more effective but Oscar was the one who showed more to take more rounds through more of the fight. His punches were not looking anywhere near as effective as Floyd's but if you're going to fight so cautiously and throw so little with commitment, a guy can flurry his way into winning the round pretty easily. He doesn't have to be more skilled, just more active.

Possibly. Or he wouldn't want to say he was wrong and end up doing a shitty poem that doesn't rhyme and changing the subject to how great he is as a trainer, father, boxer, lover and poet.

I gave the fight to Floyd by one point. HBO had already made their mind up who was going to win before the fight started and they commentated accordingly. Oscar's jab and combination punching carried the day in a lot of the early rounds and Mayweather looked legitimately concerned at stages.

I'm not saying Oscar was landing convincingly but he was doing more than Floyd who was hitting Oscar's gloves with single shots.

Watch the Sky Sports version of the fight. Much more objective!
