I don't undestand it, if you have lost to every fighter who doesn't stay in front of you and has an ounce of slickness. Now u plan to move up in weight, lose power, and speed and fight the one guy that could possibly man handle ever Super six fighter. I honestly think his promoter is trying to cash out on poor Kelly cause if this fight happens it will be sweet dreams for him; however his does have balls for even thinking about the fight!!!!!

What is there to understand? It is painfully obvious that Pavlik is being sacrificed by HBO on the altar of Bute. Lucian Bute is the next big thing and they want to continue to raise his star power by sending him a one dimensional, no movement fighter so he can destroy.

Lucian Bute will win this fight by brutal stoppage, thus ending any chance for another run by Kelly Pavlik.

if Pavlik loses to Bute then he needs to call it day, he won't get a chance against anyone else, the Super 6 doesn't finish until next year (we think), so he will need to fighttop 15/20 ranked fighters to get another shot.

I don't get your first sentence. Pavlik has one loss to an ATG with a pretty unique fighting style, very different from Bute. You make it sound as if Pavlik has at least five losses as a pro.

Sure, Bute is a big risk, but Pavlik need risk - taking at this point to get back to the status he once had. No point in winning against fighters we all know he is going to beat easy.

Bute should be the favourite but you're acting like this is David vs. Goliath. It's not. Andrade had Bute reeling all over the ring, and Pavlik is much better technically than Andrade. Not even Miranda was slated this much for stepping in against Bute.

Your argument is that he should fire his promoter so that he doesn't have to fight anyone good and see out his career knocking out carefully selected bums in a school hall in Youngstown?

This is literally one of the worst possible match-ups in boxing for Pavlik right now around his weight. Bute will ****ing BRUTALIZE him. Ridiculous matchmaking.

You all underestimate Pavlik just like you overhyped him after Taylor. I can clearly remember, almost nobody thought Bernard would win. Now the same stands for Pavlik.

Be careful, Bute is not Martinez or Hopkins. Bute is a strong, skilled guy, but is far far behind in terms of skills compared to Martinez or B-Hop. Not to mention his shitty defence.

I also agree that - regarding their current shape - Bute has more chance, but not much more. I would not be surprised at all if Pavlik stopped him. Pavlik is a very tough guy, proved he has a solid chin, has longer reach and he will be the biggest puncher Bute has ever faced. He will not have to suffer with making the weight either. Bute is in for a hard fight.

I would not be certain that Andrade and Miranda are not bigger 1-punch man. As a matter of fact I'd be willing to bet that Miranda definitely is and Andrade possibly is. I also wouldn't be certain that Martinez is technically more skilled than Bute. He strikes me as more athletic and mobile, but not necessarily a higher ring IQ.

I picked Hopkins to beat Pavlik, just like I'm picking Bute to beat him. Pavlik matches up horribly against Bute in all categories.

Ok, perhaps Miranda is a better one-punch artist than Pavlik (I disagree regarding Andrade). But Pavlik is a very effective accumulation-KO-artist as well, very accurate, fast hands.

I am not saying Pavlik will win, all I say it is a mistake to think that it is an easy fight for Bute. It will be the hardest fight of hist career.

He's very effective, yes. But fast hands? I don't know about that. Really, Pavlik, Miranda and Andrade are none of them known for their speed that i know of, but hopefully not cutting weight will help the most recent fights' showing of speed. I think it was Hermit talking about how someone mentioned in the promo for the Martinez fight, his boxing the bag looked like it was much faster than in the actual fight, pre-weight cutting. And maybe my memory is tainted with the more recent slower performances under weight cutting strain. But I can't recall ever even thinking he was above average in the speed department.

pavlik has been very sluggish looking the past couple years when compared to his pre title days. this could very well be a result of his cutting weight to make 160. if it not a result of the weight loss and it is what it is and he carries this lethargy to smw, bute will make quick work of him. however, if he feels at smw the way he felt on his run to the title it will be bute's toughest fight. this is one of the main reasons i want kelly to get some rounds in at smw before bute. not b/c he "needs a tuneup" but just to see where he's at physically.
