Mayweather waits 2 months after the Marquez fight for Cotto vs Pacquiao result before beginning negotiations with Top Rank.

Pacquiao's camp put the terms to Mayweather. 50-50, 8oz Gloves, March 13th, £1million dollar per pound over 147 - Mayweather accepts.

Mayweathers camp proposes random blood testing - Pacquiao camp rejects

Mayweathers camp proposes random blood testing up to 14 days before the fight - Pacquiao camp rejects

    So who is ducking who??

I agree, but even with that Mayweather is still top 25 of all time.

Your bottom line is the main thing.

I'm not all that fussed for unification fights, never have been. For starters I wouldn't knock a guy for not wanting to give X amount of ££££ to some crook to ''sanction'' (whatever that means) a fight for a title.

It's all about who you beat, and to a lesser extent how well you mix with the best within your era - whether in wins, losses, having fought everyone (or not as the case may be).

The only plus of multiple championships is that a good fighter with an awkward style match for someone is less likely to be frozen out for a prolonged period, but there are ten times as many drawbacks.

Judge everyone on their merits I say, rather than arguing over whether Mayweather (for example) might cope over 15 rounds rather than 12.

I asked for last 20-25 years???

you really cant compare as there competley different times. the sport is so different now. i actually think we should do these lists from 1970 onwards but.

His record is fantastic and you could go on about that all day but you can find problems.

He has a huge number rematches, noticebly against fighters he had already beaten. He beat Billy Graham 5 times.

you can look at these guys and and be in awe of the huge number of fights that they had. and the 15 rounds fights. but then look closley and you see, how many times did he actually defend his title.....5 times.

for every title fights there 3 10 rounders, these are obviously fights agaisnt guys not good enough to fight for a world title. In one of these 10 round fights he loses, and theres no rematch.

One thing I would say is that in my opinion the skills of fighters probably peaked in the 1980's, and the main reason for the decline is the shocking state of the amateur game.

Until that's addressed I don't see the next generation of Mayweathers, Pacquiaos etc.

The current state of boxing isn't as bad as many doom merchants tend to make out - there have been many great fights in the last decade featuring great fighters such as:

    DLH
    Trinidad
    Hopkins
    Mosley
    Mayweather
    Marquez (both)
    Lewis
    Holyfield
    Pacquiao
    Barrera
    Morales

Even 2nd tier guys like Hatton, Calzaghe, Klit bros etc.

The biggest problem is the politics and endless bull**** titles.

You have to say that if you did have fights today how they used to be over 15 rounds Mayweather would be even more dominant that he is already. When have you ever seen him even look tired. you have to think that Mosley, Marquez and Judah could have all been stoppage wins over 15.

Also add that they used to have same day weigh ins. Mayweather who despite coming up from Super Feather is constantly slagged off for fighting smaller man, when infact when they enter the ring Mayweather is at the same weight as the weigh in.

add to it that fighters fight every month rather than twice a year. Mayweather is constantly in shape and on weight all year round.

    Yeah I agree.

I doubt same day weigh-ins would be that much of a factor - all it would change is the division that many fighters contest in.... fighters from previous would cut weight and drop a class.

    Hatton would be a welter
Calzaghe would be a light heavy

8 weight classes rather than 17 would be more of a factor.

I'd definitely like to see some of the lower ones axed, 3lbs is **** all.

you reckon Pacquiao at featherweight would have been effective, considering he was 147lbs on fight night??

you think Paul Williams would agree to fight even Matthew Hatton with a same day weigh in at 147??

He wouldn't have lasted as long at feather.

Williams wouldn't ever have made welter
