Fighters should be compare at their best fighting weight , against their best opponents primefighting weight... inthis case Mike Mcallum , would be too strong and cagey for Duran....He would lick Roberto, but not as a P4P fighter...There are a few great fighters in history, because of their, style ruggedness, etc who were, the exceptions to the rule that a "good big man, licks a good small man", and they are rarity's....Men such as Bob Fitzimmons, Original Joe Walcott, Sam Langford,of course Harry Greb,[ his specialty], Mickey Walker, Henry Armstrong<Charlie Burley,etc...These great fighters, licked many much larger men time and again...To me that is the real criteria to judge a boxers true greatness....It,s almost akin to putting an extra 10 pounds on Secreteriat, against other great horses, time and again, and , and beating them...Tough to do.....

McCallum would have been too big for Duran. He'd outwork him with those crippling 'Bodysnatcher' specials downstairs. Roberto would be canny and durable enough to take Mike the distance though.

"Montreal" Duran wouldn't be able to bully McCallum like he did SRL. I see Mike bullying him, though.

Duran was able to hurt Ray in Montreal, stun him seriously enough in fact that SRL admitted it took three rounds for his head to clear. I don't see Duran being able to inflict any such distress on McCallum. El Cholo made Ray miss an awful lot of head shots in Montreal, but we're talking about the Body Snatcher here, a student of Robinson's, and somebody with the stamina to produce 15 round shutouts over competent opposition. Like Mannion, Duran goes the distance, but Mike's body attack results in a more impressive win than the one Hagler got from Roberto.

McCallum ****s him up and stops him around the 10th round,as a matter of fact Duran is made for him like he is for Hearns but in a different way,the body snatcher beats Duran 10 out of 10 times

i saw Mike at the garden with mannion. I dont think he can hurt Duran and I see Mike missing. He may have Duran at a size disadvantage but if Duran is in peak condition I dont see how he can lose to Mike. Even at a size disadvantage, Duran wins on points

Im going agree with Roosty for once.
Duran of the montreal bout,or even the moore fight beats micky mccallum on points. Too much speed, smarts, angles, experience and class.
Mike is begining to be overrated nowadays, hes below fab four class...

THANK YOU!! duran on his best night was an unstoppable force of nature. we all know you're referring to the best duran when pairing him up in these fantasy matches. i mean, dont we usually pair the best versions of fighters in fantasy matchups?? why would anyone be referring to a passsed prime version of a fighter? people need to stop saying "montreal duran", **** is getting annoying:-(

Sure is. 'Welterweight Duran' is enough for me, he lost one fight at the weight and beat all his opponents there, he's a top level operator there. When people get into how he fought in the two Leonard bouts and saying 'Montreal Duran', they're just entering excuse-ville. It's the same with '88-Tyson', it's all just a big excuse angle for Buster Douglas beating him.

If people are going to do this i'm going to start saying 'Gavin Rees of his title winning effort'
