I'm talking about how Mayweather deals with southpaws. He always fights them the exact same way. And he's not as good as he was back when he fought Corley/Mitchell or Judah.

If you watch Pac you'll see he "jumps" back to counter which is effective against aggressive opponents. When Pac counters, its a result of knowing the tendencies of his opponent. Cotto never feints and Roach and Pac worked on that short uppercut strictly for Cotto. What you saw wasn't Manny backing up but luring Cotto into a pre-determined sequence to counter.

What Mayweather will do is step in but NOT THROW PUNCHES or feint with the jab. If Pac throws first, he'll get countered if he doesn't Floyd will get on the inside and work the body. Pac will be forced to set his entire offense off his back foot. It's one thing to counter moving backwards but an entirely different thing to fight moving backwards. It's a subtle distinction but, if you compare Floyd's fights to Pac's, you will see that Pac's offense is based on forward movement, he counters by "jumping" back into position. It's not the same as fighting backwards.

:rofl A gambling man would BEST be suited to go with Floyd in a UD. Logic supports going with a superior boxer 9 times out of 10, but you're right.....Manny has power that can change the tide of the fight. And with his stamina he can get a late TKO or stoppage. Being that his opponent would be Floyd Jr his chance at a Stoppage vastly decreases. I hope they get these negotiations squared away so we can see this mega fight.

Pacquiao will counter FLoyd's Jab with his straight Left.

Edited September 15 2010 because these so called boxing experts seem to be so fascinated with my error. lol

No Rudyard. I will never give my picture to you. Stop asking me about my pictures. I don't swing that way.

He planted his feet as he was fighting going backwards. Yes...he planted his feet to get that shot off but he was on the retreat. Worked out well.

That's why it will be a great punch against Pac. he drops his right hand every time he throws his counter straight left. It's a timing punch he is programmed to throw. Floyd only has to feint with the jab and throw the left hook. Pac's momentum will do the rest.

It only looked like he was retreating. He was setting Cotto up for the uppercut.

I don't think Floyd is scared like a school girl at a horror flick, but he's definitley concerned and showed signs that he respects Manny's ability......even if it was masked by saying Manny is only good b/c of PEDs. The fact that the Blood testing demands are there means the parties will have to compromise in order to get the kinks worked out. But I think they will with the amount of Money that is on the table.

Of course.....setting traps and capitolizing on them. Floyd's Check hook on Ricky was anther thing of beauty where Floyd set that ****er up and put him down. Beautiful counter by Floyd.

I think it will have some success but Floyd won't be using the Jab as often as we are use to. Fighting a southie will show Floyd implementing a different strategy. The jab won't be as relevant against Manny as it was against Shane or other orthodox fighters he's beaten.
