Such prose still does not change the fact that Duran only beat one great fighter, and then quit in the rematch to that fighter. He did not knock Ray out when Ray fought his fight. I think Duran is a case of the most overrated fighter in boxing history.

Duran did not have great fighters at lightweight that he had later. And later it coincides with him moving up in weight, so his fans use that as the excuse. Seems like Hearns moved up well and beat guys like Virgil Hill and James Shuler and Benitez. Quality at the higher level. Duran's quality at lightweight was not great. Pernell or Mayweather or most top guys could have had a similar record. He was good but his lightweight reign does not make him top 20 ATG.

Duran could not compete with any of those guys. What they had in common were they were the top guys in 1989-1990. Duran did well with the guy who had the best style for him Barkley. Do you guys really believe the stuff you say? Do you really think Duran would beat Kalambay or Nunn? Benn? I am not sure. Benn in 1989 was not very experienced and if Duran could withstand Benn's punches in the early rounds he could come on and knock him out, but Benn of 1991 would have beaten Duran up. Duran's win over Barkley was not great. Barkley lost to all the top guys at middleweight.

Duran however was in his prime even against Barkley. Cuevas was a shot fighter and a nobody at 25.

He's still in his prime now but is ducking slick boxers like Mayweather whom he could never beat in his life. Duran never beat anyone who could box. He just brawled with guys.

Thats your opinion if you dont think he beat martinez, many people have scored it for williams and it was a close, good fight. Its not his fault cintron ran out of the ring, a win is a win, stop making excuses. Paul Williams is one of the best fighters in the world.

    Yeah, right. :rofl

That Williams is one of the best fighters in the world is just a sign of the bad state boxing is at these days.

Well, I'd rather 'couch' it in argument but MAG is a silly duck when it comes to Duran. His statements regarding the Barkley fight, and now Duran's whole career, don't deserve a thoughtful retort.

Mag,pachilles,pp,roosty and a few others, all have pathological diseases when it comes to duran or ray leonard. They are not boxing fans, nor are they capable of decent debate. They twist facts to suit their warped agenda. Sad creatures really...
