Who do you believe would win and how?
The ferocious 1919 (187lbs) absolute peak "Manassa Mauler" Jack Dempsey that brutally massacred Jess Willard to win the World Heavyweight Title or the "Big" George Foreman of 1994 (250lbs) who remarkably became the oldest Heavyweight champion ever at age 45, when he KO'd Michael Moorer for the WBA & IBF Heavyweight titles?

I've seen members here actually pick old comeback Foreman to stop a prime Joe Frazier of 1968-1971 and "any version of Mike Tyson", including the physical prime 1991 version who ruined Razor Ruddock and even the 1986-1988 best prime versions. I'm hoping Dempsey is not sold short in this match-up, particularly due to his weight being less than fellow elite swarmers Frazier and Tyson (I know some people are obsessed with size attributes and I hope they factor Dempsey's height and reach advantages and not just his weight "disadvantage" compared to those two).
Old Foreman has nowhere near the lethality of the peak 1973 version of himself that destroyed a very brave Joe Frazier, so the relevance of that fight is extremely limited.

Brilliant article describing Dempsey-Willard: (Thanks for writing this McGrain)

That is an amazing photo. Wish the rope wasn't there, though. Anyway, I might pick Dempsey over a prime Foreman, so against the older version I'm definitely voting Dempsey. The disparity in speed would be far too much for Old George to overcome. Dempsey would get in, tear George up, get out, circle and repeat until the ref, or Georges corner, took mercy on him and stopped the fight somewhere around round 8, possibly with Foreman tasting the canvas once or twice.

Exactly, because the T1000 was lithe, quick, agile and could turn his arms into swords, just like Jack Dempsey. While the T800 was bulky, slow and old, just like 1994 George Foreman.

As soon as you get your time machine up and running, I'll be betting on Jack Dempsey in this one.

I think the slugger beats swarmer equation breaks down when you match a slugger as slow as Old George against swarmers as fast and hard hitting as Dempsey and Tyson. Young George could be a different story,

djanders, in my lifetime I have never seen this graphic photo of Dempsey at the height of his powers...I have read that some boxing historian has developed the Toledo fight at normal speed, and Dempsey really looks awesome in regular film sync...I pick this Dempsey in 1919 as the best heavyweight of all time....Pantherlike in his movements, but Hollywood beckoned ,and Dempsey's primehood was not as long as it could have been...

Dempsey by stoppage. I wonder if he'll be able to drop George though. He took monstrous shots during his comeback, and the way he imposed his strength on his opponents made it hard for them to commit fully to their shots.

I've picked comeback Foreman (The 1991 version) against Tyson. So even though we're dealing with the 1994 one (A bit more foregone) I still have to pick him. Dempsey could easily out-box him, I guess but he'll be coming in a lot and I just think he'll get stunned badly by an uppercut.

Jack Dempsey at Toledo in 1919 was not just a swarmer as some have depicted...When he still had his "legs" he was able to circle his opponent ,move side to side, and of course bob and weave with his chin always tucked in his shoulder...He was'nt the Armstrong or Aron Prior prototype swarmer, and never took the punishment that Armstrong took ala Zivic...

    Not even a fair fight.

Bring the Foreman of Jamaica to the party and then we have a competitive fight.

Seriously guys the 90s Foreman was one of the weakest heavyweight champions of all time, and would have been slaughtered by any all time great heavyweight with a punch.

The fact that he is picked over people like Dempsey or Tyson staggers me.

Old Foreman was nowhere near as mean and aggressive as his younger self. Old Foreman struggled a bit with ex-light heavyweight swarmer Dwight Muhammad Qawi. Prime Dempsey was faster than Qawi and hit harder. I pick Dempsey by decision or late-round stoppage.

Dempsey at his peak was amazing.....earlier in his career Dempsey had to fight to survive..
..at his vicious best in Toledo in 1919...Jack by KO...

I totally agree with this, in my opinion Old Foreman is one of the most overrated Heavyweights in H2H match-ups and I was interested to see how people think he fairs with Dempsey, considering the enthusiasm certain individuals have for Old George to easily KO/TKO prime Frazier and Tyson, despite being given hell by the likes of Alex Stewart.

This Foreman would get horribly disfigured by the Mauler, his face swelling almost beyond recognition, his flabby body taking tremendous damage from Dempsey's vicious onslaught, rapidly wearing him down. Jack's phenomenally fast and unpredictable head movement will befuddle George as his misdirected bombs sail past the slippery elusive target, while he's being countered by deadly lightning quick combinations.
    Dempsey TKO6.
