What are you basing that on? Can't be because he isn't just as if not more effective with it because he completely shuts down the other fighters offense when he uses it. Can't be because his offense deteriorates because he breaks down every fighter he uses it against.

If that's your opinion, cool. But, for his sake, I hope Floyd's next opponent doesn't think that.

No, I think there is absolutely no evidence to support what you are saying. And no one made the claim he was "the best" at it. I personally think Winky has a better high guard and Toney has a better shoulder roll. But Mayweather doesn't stop being a great fighter when he uses the high guard. He still jabs, punches and counters effectively and he has completely shut down the offense of other fighters when he uses it. There's no drop-off whatsoever. If anything, it is his ace in the hole.

I'd have no problem agreeing with you if you could explain reasonably why you think Floyd goes from being great to good when he moves to the high guard. Since you haven't, I have to assume it's your opinion.

 

I believe the shoulder roll can work facing a southpaw. Floyd would be ducking Pac's straight left and rolling off the lead hooks, however Floyd usually switches to high guard with alot of head movement.

If you watch the Toney vs Jirov fight you can see a masterpiece of clean counterpunching from Toney who is facing a southpaw volume puncher.

 

I do think he can and will stop Pac.
I think he could have stopped both Mosely and JMM had he really gone for it, both were so outclassed, beaten mentally early in the fight, and especially in Moselys case, hurt often and exhausted.

I think Mayweathers is punching much harder at 147, and partly that is due to staying in range longer rather than leaps in and out.
I think he outjabs Manny easy, sets up power shots, and has more than enough quickness to execute.
I genuinely think he stops Manny 6/7/8 round.

Im a Mayweather fan, but no fanboy. I just have admired for a long time how good he is, I think he's the best fighter of my era p4p, and much as I think Pac is a top fighter, I think Floyd is as good as it gets and Pac loses here.

I will back my prediction heavily if the fight is ever made.
