I think Taylor actually made good money throughout his career too. Not Bowe level, but good money. I've read about how he lost a lot of his money by spending too much on luxury items. Bowe and Taylor's fates in terms of health were similar, they both just fought on too long (especially Taylor), even after it was pretty clear they suffered some damage due to their speech deteroriation.

No, but they don't have guaranteed contracts, obviously. In all of the major sports, stars have some security. Even if they suddenly start lose their stuff, they get paid. This doesn't happen with boxers. They are only as good as their last fight.

People a lot smarter than you have blown more money than that. Donald Trump went bankrupt several times.

Exactly man. What Elite level fighter doesn't suffer brain damage? The question is not "If" but "How much?" Doubly so for HWs.

When I saw Sweat Pea on FNF it shocked me and made me depressed as hell. This is the best defensive boxer in boxing history who walked away while fighting on an elite level! He can barely even stammer out a sentence without gestures to buy time. Heartbreaking.

Then these clowns get on here talking condescendingly about these guys? Please.

Why?? My brother played division 3 with a guy that ended up being 6'11" by the time he graduated. He managed to have an 18 year career playing in Europe making 100-200k and he wasn't good and they pay for everything for the players. Food, housing, everything.

So NBA players that go broke are what they are; stupid.

That's a good question, I'm 100% sure people would jump at the chance to have former greats like Bowe, Holyfield and Toney train them.

Better then them being in their 40's and having to fight for rent money.

Very true. Crazy how many wars Sugar Ray Leonard was in and he is pretty good too.

Brain trauma and financial management don't go hand in hand.

I don't know how we got here but the start of the thread is about his career not his financial history.

lol that was acutally pretty funny :yep

But actually, it also helps when your wife is one of the smartest women around..... Golota didn't even need to fight Adamek or these recent fights. He did it out of pure sympathy and another chance at the heavyweights. His wife makes a killing(shes a lawyer in Chicago).
