On resume alone you would have to say yes as nobody comes close. Although he was born in belfast he didnt spend much time there, he was pretty young when he left. But having said that, if the british are gonna claim bob fitzsimmons (i think he left england aged 3) then the irish can claim babyface

I think so. He can be ranked as high as Top15 p4p. Don“t think there is another Irish that comes close. Great fighter who fought in a great era.

thanks for the replies guys, i no he left young, but he always maintained he was irish, he had a huge irish following when he fought in New York... resume is unreal, def agree with the p4p top 15!!

If you are fighting in New York at that time you need a damn good reason not to lay claim to Irish blood.

Great fighter. Top 15 is a stretch.

McLarnin can knock almost any fighter out with the right punch.

Maywather is a favourite over him though.

Reverse that question, could mayweather have his record fighting against all those opponents so regularly. Doubt it.

He holds the most wins over fellow hall of fame fighters in the history of the sport. Most of whom he fought on more than 1 occassion.

Doesn't matter how long he spent in Ireland, he was born in Ireland to Irish parents so how any other nation could "claim" him is beyond me. To answer the thread starters question, yes he was definitely the bset Irish fighter by a mile.
