Let's see how Miguel deals with the huge reach and height advantages of his opponent in a new weight class, a man who boxes very well and Cotto is losing power, yes he needs to be planted too and against Foreman that won't happen. Foreman wins but he'll get robbed.
There was a huge difference in power between the shots Margo took from Cotto and what he took from Mosley, the state of his face has nothing to do with it. Mosley loaded up and hit Margo very hard all night long, Cotto was landing punches BUT anyone can see they were no where near as hard as what Mosley was landing.
I know Cotto is about to get his ass kicked again. I know Tito got exposed 3 times by guys whose defense plan was to neutrilize his left hook. I know Tito's offense became average against those guys when he couldn't land that left hook. I know De La Hoya fought Tito continuasly circling and throwing combos when Tito wasn't in position to throw, and I know Yuri can execute that same gameplan. I also know that Cotto has been poorly matched as of lately which is why his stock has steadily declined.
yuri is no where near DLH's level, and cotto can box much better than trinidad. pumped for the cup, bigreg?
Tito had one of the heaviest right hand punches in welter since Hearns. In fact, his left hook was the finishing punch that finished the damage usually done with his right hand. If anyone was one-handed it was DLH, speaking only in terms of power, but his combos were great, crisp and hard. I don't agree with the safe matchmaking part. Cotto was matched properly so far as championship matchmaking was concerned. What he did with those fights was no one's fault but Cotto's. Had Cotto switched trainers before the Margarito fight when the rift between himself and Evangelista became irreparable the future might have been very different. But he retained him! Then hired his fitness expert as his next trainer with no experience! Come on, Bigreg, you're a smart dude. You can't blame that **** on Arum. Cotto needs to have family and friends around him. He should have got a professional trainer with big fight experience a long time ago.
Let's get something straight here. Mosley's success came from three ****in' things. SPEED BODY PUNCHING CLINCHING! It had NOTHING to do with how hard he hit Margo. Mosley's speed and combinations was what started the downfall. The early harsh onslaught to Margo's midsection wore him out after the 4th round. And Mosley's constant dedication to clinching Tony after he landed a combination is what never allowed Margarito to get off and gain momentum. Mosley doesn't hit harder than Cintron or Williams and yet he walked through both of those fighters with ease. Cotto fought as effective as he could, but never committed to the body like he should because Cotto's body attack consists of hooks and Tony was mindful to keep his elbows tucked down. Mosley on the other hand threw straight shots down the middle that nearly broke Margo in half. If Miguel would've thrown down the middle instead of the sides, he might've found better success. He's also reluctant to clinch. And although Miguel LOOKED fast against Margo, Mosley's speed is on a bigger level.
I got all excited when i seen the thread title and i was actually thinking before i opened it that Cotto would seemingly take up the roll of DLH not Foreman , but hey !!!!!!!!! think thats a pretty bad comparison but i have to agree with everything else youve said , i just dont see Cotto winning this fight , i really dont see Cotto as a JMW and would of liked to have seen him and Berto made , oh but no wait , Cotto fights for Arum thats right how could i forget :nono , and i think the Top Rank meat grinder is a perfect description of whats happening with Cotto , on the flip side it would be a pretty safe bet Cotto is very very wealthy from his years with old Bob !!!!!!!!!!
Tito and cotto are completly different fighters, the only reason people compare them is because they're both puertorrican but other than that they are not similar in any way shape or form. :hat
