The Silly thing is his promoter is an Ex- Lawyer

when the rumors came out you'd think arum
could have thought of a half decent excuse ???

I Can Understand manny turning down 25 million
if his career / reputation / political dreams
would be ruined if he was to be discovered a drugs cheat

    that is understandable

    BUT

to turn it down and you know your clean

    WHAT AN IDIOT

$20,000 per boxer per fight for blood testing expenses. That's a lot of money considering that some undercard boxers doesn't earn that much in purse per fight.

USADA, WADA and other drug/blood testing companies are just jockeying on who will get the nod to conduct drug/blood testing among professional boxers.

    It's big business, big money.

    What do you think?

I say have all fights involving a belt have mandatory, random drug testing, and the sanctioning bodies pay for the tests. They do nothing except stamp their name to the fight and charge the fighters a percentage of their purses, so let them assume a little overheard for the right to sponsor a championship match, and pony up for the tests.

Fan-****ing-tastic idea. Cant see the alphabet mother****ers spending a single penny on these tests though.

    If I'm a drug cheat, I won't fight for a title. :D

I mean if pro boxing will implement a thorough drug testing policy, it should be applied to all boxers and all boxers should be available or agrees to be tested all year round. No exemptions.

    See it's really big money.

The shitty ones won', but that would be a good thing.

We would need a central boxing authority to make this happen. If it did happen it would kill to birds with one stone. We'd get clean championship fights, and a bunch of these garbage alphabet organizations would have to fold because they're not real businesses in the first place and can't really pay for anything. They just take in money b/c it's an easy sport for corrupt people to capitalize on.
No longer able to sanction a championship means they longer collect sanctioning fees. They'd start disappearing.

just not possible even for the championship fights. for the lower weights, they would be lucky to have a $20,000 payday especially those that are held in the not so rich countries. how much more paying for them or the sanctioning bodies or promoter paying for them.

It would still work though. If you're a drug cheat and don't fight for a title although clearly good enough, its basically an admission of guilt. Also, if you don't fight for a title, your never gonna hit the big time.

Although cheating may still go on at lower levels with this method, at least we would know (as well as we could) that the big boys are not cheating.

That's not possible for a lot of reasons, two of which are: Who in the world is going to pay for all those tests. You're talking about the kind of dough that no organization has.
Secondly, the vast majority of boxers, at least the ones in the states, have other full-time jobs and use boxing as a supplement income. They sure don't have the dough to shell out for a test every time they get selected to take one, and they're not employees of a multi-billion dollar company like a professional in the major team sports are, so they have no one to pay for it for them.

I think most people would be fine with just requiring it for the title fights.

I think he had doubts but when Pac ran away from random testing he's now convinced he is.

You got a point but if it's implemented only in title fights, there will be a lot of holes in the system.

Like for example, some boxers will be juicing in their non-title fights and flush out the drugs when it's time to fight for a belt.
