http://news.boxrec.com/news/2010/barker-and-macklin-renew-domestic-rivalry cannot see it happening. Macklin gave up two belts instead of fighting Barker to move onto bigger things.
Would be awesome if it did though, its the fight everyone (with the possible exception of Barry Big Balls) wants to see!!!
Both Lee and Macklin beat Barker imo. Lee is the obvious choice for Barker at the moment though, they are both at similar points in their careers and there is the whole Ireland V Britain rivalry to help market the fight. I cannot see Macklin having any interest in this fight as it's just going over old ground.
Thats what I was thinking, but how come he's not getting a shot at Barker, or how come he didn't get the chance to pick up the title when Macklin vacated?
He fought for the WBC Baltic middleweight tittle in April instead. And who can blame him? Very prestigous!
Thats why 3 boxers have already been selected as Barkers mandatory now ahead of Lee. How about he fights someone decent and gets in line.
i think lee is the best of all but its true he does need a impressive win or two to remind us of how good it looked like he was gona be
You asked why doesn't Lee go fight someone decent, well he already beat the guy Barker just about got past to win the Euro title so if he wasn't a decent opponent for Lee then he surely couldn't have been a decent opponent for Barker either.
He's pointing out that Lee previosly beat the frenchman. What he is missing is that I haven't met one Barker fan who thought it was a good performance by Barker. Everyone has off nights. Vera anyone?
So if they're both gone, and assuming Macklin doesn't want it, who's next down the line? Oral, Spada, Golovikin? Golovikin wont want it either I assume
